You as a Communications & Community Relations Specialist will:

  • Act as the main point of contact for community inquiries related to construction activities.

  • Build and maintain relationships with residents, businesses, municipalities, government agencies, and community organizations.

  • Support project teams in identifying and addressing community concerns through proactive stakeholder engagement.

  • Develop and maintain stakeholder databases, engagement records, and community contact lists.

  • Prepare and distribute project communications, including notices, newsletters, presentations, and public updates regarding construction impacts and milestones.

  • Coordinate and support community meetings, information sessions, and public engagement activities.

  • Manage community inquiries and complaints, ensuring timely responses, issue resolution, and escalation of complex matters when required.

  • Maintain accurate records of stakeholder interactions, concerns, and resolutions.

  • Monitor community issues, risks, and opportunities that may impact project delivery or reputation.

  • Prepare reports and provide regular updates to project teams, clients, and leadership on community relations activities and engagement outcomes.

This is the right role for you if:

  • Experience working in construction, infrastructure, engineering, utilities, municipal projects, real estate development, or other project-based environments is considered a strong asset.

  • Post-secondary degree or diploma in Communications, Public Relations, Community Development, Urban Planning, Political Science, Business Administration, Construction Management, or a related discipline. Equivalent combinations of education and experience will be considered.

  • 5 to 7 years in community engagement, stakeholder relations, public consultation, communications, project coordination, construction, infrastructure, engineering, or a related field.

  • Demonstrated experience building and maintaining positive relationships with community members, businesses, government agencies, municipalities, and other external stakeholders.

  • Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills with the ability to communicate effectively with diverse audiences.

  • Strong organizational and time management skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities, projects, and deadlines simultaneously.

  • Experience preparing reports, correspondence, presentations, meeting minutes, and other professional documentation.

  • Strong conflict resolution, negotiation, and problem-solving skills with the ability to respond professionally to sensitive or challenging situations.

  • Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with multidisciplinary project teams.

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, including Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Teams.

  • Valid Class G driver's licence and access to a reliable vehicle, with the ability to travel between project sites and attend community meetings as required.

  • Flexibility to attend occasional evening or weekend meetings, community events, or project activities when operationally required.

  • The salary range for this role is $75,000 - $85,000.
