Job Summary
The Financial Aid Office Assistant is dedicated to the concept of providing outstanding service to faculty, staff, current and prospective students and their parents. This position is the initial contact for prospective students on the phone and in person. The Financial Aid Office Assistant manages and answers all Financial Aid phone calls and coordinates all mail activity and forms for the Financial Aid Office. This position requires the ability to anticipate tasks that need to be completed and to work independently with initiative to accomplish these tasks while simultaneously completing daily work. In addition, the Financial Aid Office Assistant must have a high-level knowledge of all areas of the University in order to answer inquiries about financial aid, accounting, admissions, academic programs, services, etc. to provide accurate guidance and/or assistance.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Greets, welcomes and directs faculty, students, parents, staff and the general public as needed.
Answers telephone, providing assistance and answering inquiries regarding financial aid and/or taking accurate phone messages and responding to inquiries regarding financial aid information and overall university information and guidance for current students, prospective students and families.
Reads and interprets financial aid award screens.
Provides information and direction regarding financial aid forms, processing, and overall status.
Other Duties and Responsibilities
Responsible for picking up and distributing the daily mail for Financial Aid and Enrollment Services.
Performs specialized job duties during orientation, registration and other financial aid functions (SOAR).
Schedules appointments with Financial Aid Counselors if necessary.
Prepares and mails letters and financial aid forms to students, parents and staff.
Minimum Requirements
The Office Assistant must have knowledge of the university in order to answer inquiries about financial aid, admissions, services, etc. Must possess excellent written and verbal communications skills. Professional and positive attitude. Good listener and customer service skills.

Working Conditions
Routine office environment with frequent interruptions and noise due to visitors, students, faculty, staff and callers. Some Saturday work required for special events.
