Job description

Location: Jacksonville, FL | Work Type: Hybrid | Department: Development | Salary Range: $120,000 - $150,000
The World We're Building
Imagine the first day of college. The first week of a new job. The moment someone decides to stay or go.
We build the digital experiences that shape those moments. Our platforms power orientation and onboarding for 400+ institutions including Harvard, UCLA, and Florida State University. We welcome over 4.5 million people per year into important life transitions. We are the market leader in interactive, video-driven onboarding. What we build moves people.
Team and Mission
You will lead a skilled development team inside a 50-person company where your impact is immediate and visible. Reporting to the Director of Technology, you will set technical direction, establish standards, mentor engineers, and remain hands-on with production code.
The platforms you build and lead touch hundreds of thousands of students and employees every year. Strong technical leadership here has a direct, measurable impact on client outcomes and organizational growth.
How We Work
We are a goal-driven organization. Priorities are clear, commitments are tracked, and accountability is real and mutual.
We hold a high technical bar and invest in the people who meet it. No politics. No unnecessary complexity. Just excellent work, done right.
We have been doing this successfully for over 26 years - not a startup, not a corporate giant. A focused, talented team that takes quality seriously.
The Role
As Senior Web Engineer / Team Lead, you are the senior technical force inside Advantage's development group. You lead by doing. You write and review production code, architect scalable solutions, define development standards, and mentor developers to grow in their craft. You are the bridge between technical execution and product direction - translating complex requirements into well-engineered, maintainable systems.
What You Will Lead and Own
Team Leadership and Development (60%)
  1. Lead, mentor, and coach a small team of Web Developers in C#, .NET Core, and Umbraco
  2. Conduct meaningful code reviews that improve quality and share knowledge
  3. Partner with project managers and producers to plan and balance priorities across multiple client projects
  4. Support team member growth through regular feedback, career development, and technical coaching
  5. Lead team rituals including standups, retrospectives, and knowledge-sharing sessions
  6. Provide input on technical hiring, onboarding, and team structure

Technical Direction (40%)
  1. Design and evolve CMS-driven web application architectures using .NET (C#), ASP.NET Core MVC, and MS SQL Server
  2. Stay hands-on with complex development work: integrations, performance improvements, and challenging features
  3. Integrate REST APIs and authentication systems including OAuth2, SAML, and OpenID Connect; document with OpenAPI (Swagger)
  4. Oversee Azure deployments, CI/CD pipelines, IIS and Windows Server administration, and security and performance monitoring
  5. Define and evolve coding standards, deployment practices, and branching strategies
  6. Participate in client implementation planning calls
  7. Troubleshoot production issues collaboratively across teams
  8. Evaluate emerging technologies and contribute to product and architectural direction
