DoD SkillBridge Internship: Surface Combat Systems Center Maintenance Technician SkillBridge Host Company: Boarhog LLC SkillBridge Provider: Vets2PM LLC Location: Wallops Island, Virginia Applicants must be active-duty U.S. Military Members who qualify for the DoD SkillBridge Program. About the company: SCSC is a Naval Sea Systems Command (NAVSEA) Echelon III U.S. Navy Field Activity with 92 military, 84 government civil service, and 267 contractors executing high-fidelity shipboard representative integrated warfare capabilities in a maritime environment, consisting of the AEGIS Engineering & Training Complex, the Ship Self Defense System (SSDS) facility, the Wallops Island Engineering Test Center, and the Wallops Island Radar Test Site as tenants on the NASA Wallops Flight Facility. Future SCSC capabilities include High Energy Laser with Integrated Optical-Dazzler and Surveillance Weapon System (HELIOS), next-generation radars, the Surface Electronic Warfare Improvement Program (SEWIP), and a cooperative with NASA developing Unmanned Arial Vehicles and supporting Large Space Vehicle launches as SCSC continues to evolve toward becoming the preferred asset for technology and systems integration, test and verification of combat systems across the five battlespace domains of space, surface, air, undersea, and cyberspace / electronic warfare

SSDS Maintenance Technicians with an interest in expanding their systems expertise are afforded opportunities to work on these and other capabilities. Compensation Target (If hired after the internship): $52K - $72K Annual Salary (This is a target based on internship performance, experience, etc.) Relevant Military Experience: EW (Electronic Warfare) FC (Fire Controlman) ET (Electronics Technician) CTT (Cryptologic Technician) Anyone qualified for a SEWIP (Surface Electronic Warfare Improvement Program) or SSDS (Ship Self-Defense System) or Navigation Tech position Summary: Boarhog is eager to fill an immediate opening for a Ship Self Defense System (SSDS) MK2 Maintenance Technician to work with a team of professionals supporting the Surface Combat Systems Center (SCSC) in Wallops Island (WI) Virginia. The team provides technology assessments of operational, engineering, and cybersecurity readiness as the last stop for hardware, software, and Integrated Combat Systems testing prior to delivery to the Fleet

This is fully funded follow-on contract that started on January 8th of 2023 lasting until January 7th of 2028 and this incumbent team has been delivering exceptional services for many years. REQUIRED EXPERIENCE: Seven (7) years of demonstrated experience assessing, troubleshooting, and performing corrective and preventive maintenance on SSDS systems and equipment, with allowance for education to substitute for experience (see education and training section below). Organizational-level maintenance experience monitoring and managing the operation of SSDS MK2 OA Tech Refresh MODs 1C/3C/5C/6C, SSDS OA MK 2 OA Tech Refresh MODs 1C/2C/3C/5C, SSDS OA MK 2 OA Tech Refresh MODs 1C/2C/3C/5C with (TI-12H) ORDALT, and BFTT AN/USQ-T46D(V) configurations.

Experience may be accumulated concurrently. For example, if the candidate worked while going to school, the work experience and education time are credited concurrently. EDUCATION / TRAINING: An Associates Degree in a technical or computer-related discipline could substitute for two (2) years of the aforementioned seven years of experience, bringing the required experience down to five (5) years.

For other relevant degrees/education, appropriate education can be counted as experience at a rate of two (2) years of education equals one (1) year of experience for up to four (4) years of experience, potentially bringing the required experience down to one (1) year. Bachelor's Degree in Information Systems or related field / discipline is desired, or four (4) additional years of demonstrated experience as outlined above can be substituted for a degree. SCSC technical positions (those not designated electrical or mechanical engineer positions requiring Professional Engineer certification) on this contract present opportunities to cross-train following a variation of the Navy's Personnel Qualification Standards (PQS) program, such that for example, the SSDS Mk2 Maintenance Tech is offered opportunities to train and qualify as an Information Systems Tech, Project Analyst, Audio/Visual Tech, Radar Tech, Computer Network Tech, Communications Tech, Navigation Electronics Tech, Cisco Tech, and Test Director, with commensurate increases in compensation.

CERTIFICATION: Must have or obtain within one year of onboarding an Operating System training certificate or certification and Security+ certification. ADDITIONAL SELECTION CRITERIA: Eligible candidates must either currently have, or be eligible to obtain and sustain a SECRET clearance. Boarhog's Facility Security Officer will determine the cleared eligibility of successfully screened candidates as a prerequisite to a conditional offer of employment.

Preference will be given to candidates who reside in, or will move into, a Small Business Administration (SBA) designated Historically Underutilized Business Zone (HUBZone) area, of which Wallops Island VA is one.
