Job description

Your Opportunity as the Plant Systems Engineering Intern:
As a Plant Systems Engineering intern you will gain hands-on experience supporting manufacturing operations through IT, automation, and network infrastructure, including MES/SCADA systems and plant networking environments. This role partners closely with operating technicians and engineers to analyze manufacturing processes, deliver technical solutions, and manage projects from concept through commissioning. Interns gain exposure to enterprise IT standards, capital projects, and long-term plant modernization initiatives within a Fortune 500 manufacturing environment.
Location: Orrville, OH
Work Arrangements: In Person
In this role you will:
  • Work with operating technicians to collect data and learn manufacturing process
  • Architect, administer and support network infrastructure (Terminal Servers, Thin Clients, Ethernet Switches)
  • Design, implement and support technical solutions in MES and SCADA software
  • Develop, document and strengthen IT standards
  • Completely manage projects from scope development, capital appropriation, implementation, commissioning and verification
  • Coordinate activities of contractors, hourly technicians and other resources
  • Research feasibility of long-term plant upgrade initiatives

What we are looking for:
Minimum Requirements:
  • At least Sophomore standing in Computer Engineering, Engineering Technology, Computer Information Systems, Computer Science, or a related field of study
  • Minimum overall GPA of 3.0
  • Basic understanding of computer systems, networking, and operating systems
  • Experience with one or more programming languages, such as Python, C++, SQL, VBA, or C#
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications
  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment and demonstrate a willingness to learn
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Availability to work full-time during the internship period
  • Ability to meet all safety expectations, including wearing required personal protective equipment (PPE), following safe work practices, and adhering to good manufacturing practices (GMP)
