Summary

Designs, builds, and supports the internal software tools, automations, and integrations that PD Instore's business runs on. Working within Sustainability, this role turns manual, spreadsheet-driven processes into reliable applications - spanning the Dynamics 365 ERP implementation, engineering automation, and order workflows. Partners directly with Estimating, Engineering, Production, IT, and Sales to gather requirements, prototype quickly, validate results against real jobs, and hand off documented, maintainable solutions.

Essential Duties/Responsibilities

  • Develops, tests, and maintains internal applications and tools that support estimating, engineering, production, and sales workflows
  • Builds process automation using Office Scripts, Power Automate, VBA, and scripting languages to replace manual and repetitive tasks
  • Supports the Dynamics 365 ERP implementation through data mapping, validation, and integration work between D365 and connected systems
  • Gathers requirements from non-technical stakeholders and translates them into working specifications and functional prototypes
  • Writes and maintains user documentation and provides training and post-launch support to internal users
  • Performs other duties as assigned

Competencies and Skills

  • Proficiency in one or more: JavaScript/TypeScript, Python, C#, VBA, SQL
  • Working knowledge of the Microsoft 365 and Power Platform ecosystem (Excel, Office Scripts, Power Automate, SharePoint)
  • Familiarity with relational databases, REST APIs, and version control (Git)
  • Ability to read and debug an unfamiliar codebase and explain how it behaves
  • Ability to translate business problems described in non-technical language into technical requirements
  • Clear written and verbal communication; able to present work to leadership and to shop-floor users
  • Manages multiple concurrent projects and communicates status and blockers proactively
  • Exposure to ERP (Dynamics 365), or manufacturing systems preferred
  • Curiosity and initiative - comfortable working in a fast-moving environment where requirements evolve

Education/Certification

Experience

  • 0-2 years of professional software development, automation, or applications development experience; internship, co-op, or equivalent project work qualifies
  • Demonstrated experience building working tools - applications, scripts, macros, or automations - that other people use
  • Experience gathering requirements from stakeholders and iterating on feedback
  • Experience in a manufacturing, engineering, or ERP environment preferred but not required

Physical Requirements and Working Conditions

  • Walking, sitting, bending, twisting, reaching, pushing, pulling and lifting may be required throughout the workday.
  • Primarily an office-based role; extended periods of sitting and computer/keyboard use are required
  • Occasional time on the production floor and in engineering areas, including required personal protective equipment
  • Occasional travel between PD locations
