The internship will be a general Finance internship that will provide an opportunity to work in the Controllership function of American Express Finance. This internship position will be based in Phoenix, AZ.

    The below represents the expected salary range for this job requisition. Ultimately, in determining your pay, we'll consider your location, experience, and other job-related factors.

    Minimum Qualifications
        Currently enrolled in a full-time bachelor's degree program
        Students must have a graduation date between December 2027 and June 2028

    Preferred Qualifications
        Analytical Skills - ability to manipulate large amounts of data, spot trends & generate significant insights
        Communication Skills - synthesize data into an easy-to-understand story & articulate key messages across multiple audiences.
        Agile Mentality - positive, can-do attitude, adapt to change, and highly motivated self-starter
        Leadership - act & lead with courage, establish relationships, make decisions quickly & influence change

    How will you make an impact in this role?
        Complete a project solving a real business challenge for the organization
        Participate in other initiatives and projects as assigned
        Assist with monthly general ledger close activities including completing journal entries and account reconciliations
        Assist in producing and reviewing monthly and quarterly financial reports
        Perform variance analysis and analytical procedures for assigned general ledger accounts
        Establish relationships and partner with subject matter experts to key to Controllership accounting activities
