Summary of Job Duties:The Registered Nurse (RN) in the Behavioral Health Service Line (BHSL) consistently provides effective direct care to a variety of patients, will work as part of the interdisciplinary team, based on licensure, title and competencies. The RN seeks, as well as provides, feedback for improved clinical practice. The RN integrates theory and research into clinical practice. The RN provides leadership to members of the nursing team in order to maintain patient care standards. The RN works under the direct supervision of the Clinical Services Manager (CSM). Promotion is based on years of experience, satisfactory performance appraisals and recommendation by manager.
Employee must successfully complete a UAMS-sponsored conflict management training to identify, prevent, and mitigate disruptive behaviors using methods such as non-escalation, de-escalation, personal protection from physical assaults, and physical alternatives within six months of hire.
PRI Inpatient Units include the General Adult Inpatient Unit, the Women's Unit, the Child Diagnostic Unit, and the off-campus Pulaski County Regional Crisis Stabilization Unit.
Qualifications:

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Graduate of an accredited nursing program with an Associate's Degree, Nursing Diploma, Bachelor's Degree in Nursing, or Master's Degree in Nursing
  • Minimum 1 year of Registered Nurse experience
  • Current and valid Registered Nurse License in the State of Arkansas
  • Excellent communication skills, basic computer skills, strong work ethic and accountability

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 2 or more years of Registered Nurse experience
  • Current BLS

Job Requirements:

The Registered Nurse (RN) delivers nursing care for patients within the limits of the Nurse Practice Act of the State of Arkansas and adheres to institutional policies, procedures and standards. The RN is responsible to adhere to the standard of care defined by UAMS, ANA, and Standards for specialty patient population with support and mentoring by other team members.

  • Collects and documents assessment data.
  • Develops a Plan of Care (POC) per standard.
  • Implements POC including medical order and interdisciplinary approach.
  • Evaluates the progress of patient toward attainment of desired outcomes.
  • Provides effective patient/family education/discharge planning.
  • Administers medication per standard including drug information to patients/families.
  • Acts as a resource/supports others.
  • Delivers patient care using the principles of the defined nursing modality.
  • Delegates care based on UAMS standards, legal and regulatory requirements, specific job description and individual level of education and training.
  • Contributes to a positive work environment that is conducive to clinical education while serving as a resource for student nurses and staff.
  • May perform other duties as assigned.
