Your Opportunity
At Schwab, you're empowered to make an impact on your career. Here, innovative thought meets creative problem solving, helping us challenge the status quo and transform the finance industry together. We believe in the importance of in-office collaboration and fully intend for the selected candidate for this role to work on site in Soutlake, TX.
Schwab Technology Services helps shape how clients manage their money by delivering innovative, reliable technology that supports our commitment to broaden access to investing and financial planning. In this role, you'll contribute to building and improving a distributed Java-based application ecosystem that uses modern microservices and micro-frontend patterns to deliver secure, accessible, high-performance web experiences. You'll work within an agile delivery environment where collaboration is essential-partnering with product owners, architects, and technology teams to clarify requirements, align to enterprise standards, and deliver resilient solutions. Your day-to-day work will span the software development lifecycle, from solution design and development through testing, release, and production support. Along the way, you'll apply and grow your capabilities in areas such as front-end engineering standards, design systems, observability, CI/CD quality gates, performance considerations, and accessibility practices-building judgment, adaptability, and confidence as you contribute to shared goals across the Sales and Service Technology portfolio.

  • Exposure to containers and microservices concepts in cloud environments.
  • Understanding of CI/CD pipeline concepts and cloud deployment workflows.
  • Awareness of cloud platforms such as PCF, AWS, and/or GCP.
  • Basic knowledge of databases such as MongoDB, Redis, or SQL Server.
  • Ability to collaborate across product management, architecture, SRE, and adjacent engineering teams, with a demonstrated willingness to learn and contribute.
  • Comfort working with distributed teams, including offshore partners and external stakeholders.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with demonstrated curiosity and a creative problem-solving mindset.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Basic understanding of common design patterns, development standards, and engineering guidelines within modern application ecosystems.

  • Familiarity with AI-enabled development tools (e.g., code assistants, intelligent automation, AI-driven code analysis).
  • Awareness of quality-first engineering practices such as test-driven development (TDD), QA automation, and maintaining automated test suites in CI/CD.
  • Front-end framework experience or coursework beyond Angular (e.g., React, Vue.js).
  • Familiarity with HTML, CSS/Sass, responsive design, and accessibility fundamentals (WCAG).
  • Interest in performance optimization concepts for web applications and contributing to technical documentation.
