What is an internship in Tekla Structures?

An Internship in Tekla Structures is a temporary position, usually for students or recent graduates, where you gain practical experience using Tekla Structures software in a professional environment. Tekla Structures is a Building Information Modeling (BIM) tool widely used for designing and detailing steel and concrete structures. During the internship, you may work alongside experienced engineers and modelers, helping with real-world projects and developing essential skills in structural modeling, drawing, and collaboration. This hands-on experience can be valuable for pursuing a career in structural engineering, construction, or BIM coordination.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as an internship in Tekla Structures, and why are they important?

To thrive in an Internship focused on Tekla Structures, you need a basic understanding of civil or structural engineering principles, often supported by ongoing studies in a relevant degree program. Familiarity with Tekla Structures software, CAD tools, and BIM systems is typically required, and any related certifications are advantageous. Strong attention to detail, effective communication, and eagerness to learn set standout interns apart. These skills and qualities are crucial for producing accurate structural models and collaborating efficiently with engineering teams.

What types of projects and tasks can I expect to work on during a Tekla Structures internship?

As a Tekla Structures intern, you will typically assist with modeling and detailing structural components using the Tekla software, supporting senior engineers and BIM coordinators on real-world construction or infrastructure projects.
