Design/BIM Drafter
Department: Building Information Modeling (BIM)
Reports To: Virtual Design and Construction Manager
FLSA Status: Non-Exempt
Position Summary
The Design/BIM Drafter is responsible for assisting with the creation of technical shop drawings and supporting the BIM team with model modifications. This position requires a foundational understanding of technical drafting and modeling applications and the ability to interpret architectural, structural, and engineering design documents.
The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, eager to learn, and interested in developing a career in BIM and construction technology.
Principal Duties and Responsibilities
- Assist in creating technical shop drawings in accordance with project specifications and direction provided by the BIM team.
- Support Coordinators, Leads, and Technicians with model modifications and updates.
- Work collaboratively as part of the BIM/CAD support team to achieve consistent, accurate, and high-quality results.
- Create and revise shop drawings based on project requirements.
- Review project documents and drawings to support accurate drafting and modeling.
- Assist with maintaining model accuracy and consistency throughout the project lifecycle.
- Communicate effectively with BIM team members and ask questions when clarification is needed.
- Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned.

Education and Experience
- Associate degree in Design, Drafting, Architecture, Construction, or a related field preferred.
- 01 years of relevant experience preferred.
- Internship, school, or project experience with drafting, BIM, or construction documents is a plus.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Ability to comprehend and interpret architectural and construction documents.
- Basic understanding of engineering design packages and how they relate to a project.
- Basic understanding of structural drawings and documents.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
- Ability to prioritize tasks and meet project deadlines.
- Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
- Strong communication and organizational skills.
- Willingness to learn and develop technical skills in BIM and construction technology.
Computer Skills
- AutoCAD: Basic understanding of creating and modifying objects in 2D and 3D.
- Revit: Basic knowledge of families, templates, and parameters.
- Navisworks: Ability to navigate and review models.
- Bluebeam: Ability to create markups, pull dimensions, and edit PDFs.
- Microsoft Office: Basic understanding of Microsoft Office applications.
Work Environment
This position works in a professional office environment and may occasionally require visits to construction jobsites or other project locations. The employee is expected to maintain a professional and collaborative approach while working with BIM team members, project teams, and other stakeholders.
