Location:McHenry Community High School
Summary: McHenry High School District #156 is seeking TWO (2) highly motivated interns to join the "McHenry Strength" staff for the Summer 2026 season. We are looking for current undergraduate students, graduate students, or alumni student-athletes studying in the area of Strength & Conditioning, Sport Performance, or Physical Education. Under the mentorship of Dr. John Beerbower, Director of Strength, you will move beyond observation and into active coaching, gaining the skills necessary to lead at the high school or collegiate level.
This is a non-paid internship focused on professional development; it can be completed for university course credit or as volunteer experience.
  • Duration: 7-8 weeks (Early June - Late July 2026).
  • Commitment: 200 total hours of hands-on experience (approx. 25-30 hours per week).

Qualifications:
  • High motivation and a strong desire to learn in a fast-paced environment.
  • Commitment to maintaining professional relationships and a positive attitude.
  • Ability to perform all duties with energy and enthusiasm.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Help serve and train hundreds of student-athletes across 28 different high school teams and our "Future Warrior" (6th-8th grade) developmental programs.
