Position:
RWDI is seeking a Senior Field Technician - Source Emissions to direct and execute complex source testing projects across various industrial sectors. This role combines hands-on fieldwork with leadership and client-facing responsibilities. You will oversee field testing programs, ensure regulatory compliance, and mentor junior technicians, all while maintaining the highest standards of safety and data integrity. This posting represents a currently available full-time, permanent position.
Key Responsibilities
  • In the field lead project team and perform on-site stack testing and source emissions monitoring in accordance with federal and regional regulatory methods (e.g., EPA Reference Methods, ECCC).
  • Plan and manage assigned field deployments, including crew logistics, equipment preparation, and safety procedures.
  • Analyze collected data and ensure QA/QC protocols are strictly followed throughout testing and reporting processes.
  • Serve as a technical liaison with clients, regulators, and internal teams to communicate project scope, progress, and findings.
  • Train, mentor, and oversee junior field technicians and new team members on project assignments.
  • Troubleshoot and maintain analytical and sampling skills equipment, ensuring accuracy and reliability.
  • Support project scoping, scheduling, and budgeting in collaboration with project managers and senior leadership.
  • Keep current with evolving environmental regulations and industry best practices as a team.
  • Prepare high-quality technical reports, including regulatory documentation, emissions data summaries, and field observations.

Skills, Knowledge and Expertise
We are accepting applications from candidates with the following qualifications:
  • Post-secondary education in Environmental Technology, Engineering, Chemistry or a related field.
  • Preferably, a minimum of 5-years experience working in the Air Quality field
  • Ambient monitoring experience is an asset
  • Strong computer and analytical technical "hands-on" skills
  • An aptitude for practical problem-solving
  • Field/site experience is a definite asset
  • Must be legally eligible to work in the United States.
  • Must have a valid driver's license.

Candidates should also possess:
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong people and team skills as well as being highly motivated
  • An ability to work in a fast-paced team environment with no supervision
  • Exceptional organizational capabilities, coordination, and consultation skills
  • Willingness to travel, and work outdoors including working long hours, evenings, and weekends
  • Collect samples at locations that may require working at heights and outdoors in all weather conditions
