Job description

The Rockford Rivets are seeking a qualified and detail-oriented individual to join our team as the Official Scorekeeper for the 2026 season. This summer internship runs from mid-May through late August and requires availability for all Rockford Rivets home games (36).
The Official Scorekeeper is responsible for maintaining the official record of each game, accurately tracking statistics, and ensuring all scoring decisions comply with Northwoods League and baseball scoring rules. This position plays a vital role in game operations and will work closely with coaches, umpires, media personnel, and front office staff. The Official Scorekeeper will report directly to the Stadium Operations Manager.
Key Responsibilities
  • Maintain the official scorebook for all Rockford Rivets home games.
  • Accurately record all game events, including hits, runs, errors, RBIs, pitching statistics, substitutions, and defensive changes.
  • Track individual and team statistics throughout each game.
  • Determine and record official scoring decisions in accordance with baseball scoring rules.
  • Communicate with coaches, broadcasters, media personnel, and league officials as needed.
  • Ensure all game records are accurate and compliant with Northwoods League regulations.
  • Work closely with the public address announcer, media staff, and scoreboard operator to ensure consistency in statistical reporting.
  • Assist with maintaining statistical databases and game records throughout the season.
  • Verify all scoring equipment, software, and scorekeeping materials are operational prior to each game.
  • Double-check statistical entries and official game records for accuracy before submission.

Required Skills & Qualifications
  • Strong attention to detail and exceptional accuracy.
  • Knowledge of baseball rules, scoring procedures, and statistics.
  • Ability to focus and remain attentive throughout an entire game.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Familiarity with baseball scorekeeping software and statistical programs is preferred.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced game-day environment.
  • Comfortable working evenings, weekends, and holidays based on the team's schedule.
  • Ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Previous baseball scorekeeping experience at the high school, collegiate, or summer collegiate level.
  • Familiarity with the Northwoods League or other collegiate summer baseball leagues.
  • Experience using digital scoring systems and statistical software.
