Job description


We are looking for someone early in their career who understands geospatial technologies and is interested in implementing business development skills to tell compelling stories. This position combines technical geospatial insights with technical writing, research, and coordination to help communicate our capabilities, outcomes, and values.
Working under the guidance of senior geospatial and business development staff, this position will contribute to geospatial solutions and support the development of marketing materials. We want you to be curious, flexible, and ready to jump in where help is needed, contributing across different projects and learning as you go. This position offers great potential for professional growth and the opportunity to apply the latest geospatial technology while also using business development skills to communicate what we do and why it matters.
This requires at least 3 days in-office presence in Dewberry's Fairfax, VA headquarters and travel to client sites and industry events about 25% of the time.

Responsibilities
Geospatial & Technical Support (50%)
  • Support geospatial project teams with analysis tasks, including data preparation, spatial analysis, and basic application support.
  • Assist with image analysis and remote sensing data workflows such as supporting classification efforts and helping develop derived products.
  • Help prepare maps, graphics, and basic visualizations for technical deliverables and internal presentations.

Business Development, Communication, & Content Development (50%)
  • Support the development of marketing materials such as capability statements, brochures, presentation content, and social media posts.
  • Translate technical geospatial concepts into clear, concise, audience-appropriate language for non-technical stakeholders.
  • Assist with proposal and business development efforts on project information, resumes, and technical inputs.
  • Conduct background research on clients, markets, technologies, and geospatial solutions.
  • Coordinate with geospatial analysts, project managers, and marketing personnel to gather accurate project information and ensure consistency across materials.
  • Develop and manage business intelligence tools to track business development efforts.

Required Skills & Required Experience
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Geography, GIS, Remote Sensing, Environmental Science, Marketing, Communications, or a related field.
  • Foundational knowledge of GIS concepts, spatial data, and geospatial workflows.
  • Familiarity with Esri software (e.g., ArcGIS Pro, ArcGIS Online) or similar GIS platforms.
  • Strong written communication skills with the ability to organize and summarize technical information clearly.
  • Attention to detail and ability to manage multiple tasks in a collaborative environment.
  • Proficiency with standard office software (e.g., Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint).

Preferred (but not required) Skills & Experience
  • Coursework or internship experience involving GIS analysis, geospatial applications, or remote sensing.
  • Exposure to image analysis, LiDAR, aerial imagery, or satellite data.
  • Experience supporting marketing, communications, or proposal efforts in a technical or consulting environment.
  • Familiarity with graphic or layout tools (e.g., Adobe InDesign, Illustrator, Canva).
  • Interest in learning how geospatial technologies are applied across infrastructure, environment, utilities, transportation, or public-sector markets.
  • Experience working with business intelligence tools like Power BI to create dashboards

Salary Range
The projected range for this position is $52,000-$67,000 annually. Depending upon other factors, i.e., skills, experience, location, market conditions, the range may vary slightly.
