Groundworks Technology Team is seeking an Manager, Software Engineering.

As an Engineering Manager, you will lead a team of Software engineers to deliver high-powered, cutting-edge web and native mobile applications. You will work collaboratively with Product Owners, vendors, and business stakeholder’s to architect and create enterprise-level web and native mobile applications that are both scalable and robust.

Education:

Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Computer Engineering, Systems Engineering or relevant field of study preferred.

Leadership & Management
  • 5+ years of experience leading high-performing software engineering teams in Agile environments.
  • Demonstrated success managing cross-functional engineering teams delivering customer-facing web, mobile, eCommerce, and enterprise applications.
  • Proven ability to build, coach, mentor, and retain high-performing engineering talent.
  • Strong experience managing multiple concurrent initiatives, balancing delivery commitments with technical excellence.
  • Excellent written, verbal, and executive-level communication skills.
  • Strong stakeholder management skills with the ability to influence across Product, Architecture, UX, Operations, Security, and executive leadership.
  • Experience driving organizational change, continuous improvement, and engineering best practices.
Technical Leadership
  • Strong software engineering background with experience across modern front-end, back-end, API, cloud-native, and mobile technologies.
  • Experience leading engineering teams supporting customer-facing digital platforms, eCommerce solutions, mobile applications, customer experience platforms, and Field Service Management (FSM) systems.
  • Working knowledge of modern front-end technologies including Angular, React, JavaScript/TypeScript, HTML5, and CSS.
  • Understanding of modern back-end development, RESTful APIs, microservices, event-driven architectures, and distributed systems.
  • Experience with relational and NoSQL databases and data integration patterns.
  • Experience with Git, GitHub/GitLab, Jira, Confluence, Slack, and modern DevOps toolchains.
  • Experience leading teams practicing CI/CD, Infrastructure as Code, automated testing.
  • Familiarity with secure software development practices, application security, and OWASP principles.
  • Experience with cloud platforms such as AWS, Microsoft Azure, or Google Cloud Platform.
  • Knowledge of application performance optimization, observability, monitoring, logging, and reliability engineering.
  • Understanding of AI-assisted software development, engineering productivity tools, and modern software delivery practices is a plus.
Key Responsibilities
  • Engineering Leadership
    Lead, coach, and develop one or more software engineering teams responsible for delivering scalable, secure, and high-quality digital products and platforms. Foster a high-performance engineering culture centered on accountability, collaboration, innovation, and continuous improvement. Establish clear goals, career development plans, and performance expectations for team members. Recruit, hire, onboard, and retain top engineering talent.
  • Delivery Management
    Own engineering execution and delivery for strategic initiatives across web, mobile, customer experience, and enterprise platforms. Partner closely with Product Management, Architecture, UX, QA, and business stakeholders to translate product roadmaps into executable engineering plans. Ensure predictable, high-quality delivery through Agile planning, sprint execution, backlog management, and release coordination. Proactively identify delivery risks, remove impediments, and drive resolution of technical and organizational issues.
  • Technical Leadership
    Provide technical leadership and architectural guidance while empowering engineering teams to make sound technical decisions. Drive adoption of modern software engineering practices including modular architecture, API-first design, cloud-native development, automated testing, CI/CD, DevSecOps, and observability. Ensure solutions are scalable, secure, maintainable, and aligned with enterprise architecture standards. Lead technical design reviews and support modernization initiatives that reduce technical debt and improve platform reliability.
  • Agile & Engineering Excellence
    Champion Agile software development methodologies and engineering best practices. Coach teams on effective backlog refinement, estimation, sprint planning, and iterative delivery. Promote a culture of software craftsmanship, code quality, peer reviews, continuous integration, and continuous delivery. Drive engineering productivity through automation, metrics, and continuous process improvement.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration
    Build strong partnerships across Product, UX, Data, Infrastructure, Security, and Operations teams. Collaborate with stakeholders to prioritize work based on customer value, business objectives, technical dependencies, and organizational priorities. Communicate engineering progress, delivery risks, technical decisions, and roadmap updates to leadership and executive stakeholders.
  • Operational Excellence
    Ensure production systems meet expectations for availability, performance, scalability, security, and operational support. Drive incident response, root cause analysis, and continuous improvement following production events. Establish and monitor engineering KPIs including delivery predictability, quality, reliability, technical debt, deployment frequency, and team health.
  • People Leadership
    Conduct regular one-on-one meetings, performance reviews, and career development discussions. Mentor engineering managers, technical leads, and individual contributors. Foster an inclusive, collaborative, and psychologically safe engineering culture. Support succession planning and organizational growth through talent development and leadership coaching.
Working Conditions

Full-time position based at Groundworks’ corporate office in Irving, Texas. Collaborative, fast-paced work environment requiring adaptability and effective time management. Occasional travel may be required for team meetings, training, or industry conferences. This role has a base salary range between $155,000- $195,000. Salary is based on candidate experience.
