Job description

DESCRIPTION:
Matador is seeking candidates for a Geophysical Technician role that have prior industry experience managing various types of remote sensing and geoscience datasets. Candidates also will share a motivation to work in a team environment, responsibly promoting technology to drive business value and efficiencies.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Support Matador's Geoscience Team with other technicians to deliver key data, projects, maps or other derivative products to inform operational or business decisions.
  • Ensure precision of geographic and datum positioning for data located within or spanning multiple coordinate reference systems in North America
  • Perform quality control on new and existing datasets with subject matter experts to ensure appropriate use case for various data/communications
  • Manage/automate geoscience or data-specific workflows to maintain databases and links to software repositories.
  • Work with Information Technology team to implement strategies for seismic data security and redundancy on server and cloud-based storage solutions
  • Maintain competitive awareness of publicly available datasets and data-related technologies
  • Manage contractual obligations and geophysical product sharing externally with vendors or partners
  • Implement new and existing technologies to drive efficiencies

QUALIFICATIONS:
Education and experience:
  • Minimum of 2 years of industry experience
  • B.S. in geoscience, data-science or relevant field(s)
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Detail oriented and organized with ability to work in fast paced environments
  • Experience with Petrel, Petrel-Studio is preferred. Geosoftware (Hampson-Russell), Paleoscan also relevant
  • Competency with Python or other programming languages not required but relevant
