Job description

Atlanta Glass Heroes is hiring an experienced and dependable Auto Glass Technician to install, remove, and replace glass on semi-trucks, commercial vehicles, buses, and railcars.

This position is especially focused on the proper removal, installation, and reinstallation of rubber gasket-set glass systems. Candidates should be comfortable working with large windshields, specialty glass, locking strips, ropes, hand tools, and commercial-grade sealants.

Key Responsibilities

  • Remove and install windshields and windows on semi-trucks, commercial vehicles, buses, and railcars.
  • Remove, inspect, clean, and reinstall rubber window gaskets.
  • Install gasket-set glass using rope-in, locking-strip, and other approved installation methods.
  • Replace damaged, worn, or leaking gaskets as needed.
  • Install large one-piece and multi-piece semi-truck windshields.
  • Properly handle laminated and tempered glass to prevent damage or breakage.
  • Inspect openings, pinchwelds, frames, and gaskets before installation.
  • Apply urethane, primers, sealants, and lubricants according to manufacturer requirements.
  • Diagnose and correct water leaks, air leaks, loose glass, and improper gasket fitment.
  • Safely remove broken glass and clean the surrounding work area.
  • Maintain company tools, equipment, service vehicles, and job materials.
  • Take clear before-and-after photos and complete required job documentation.
  • Communicate professionally with customers, supervisors, and site personnel.
  • Follow all company, customer-site, railroad, and OSHA safety requirements.
  • Travel to customer locations and complete mobile installations throughout the Atlanta area and surrounding regions.

Qualifications

  • Previous auto glass, commercial glass, heavy-truck glass, railcar glass, or gasket-set glass installation experience preferred.
  • Experience installing semi-truck windshields is strongly preferred.
  • Knowledge of rubber gaskets, locking strips, rope installation techniques, urethane systems, primers, and sealants.
  • Ability to safely lift and maneuver large or heavy pieces of glass with another technician.
  • Comfortable working from ladders, platforms, scaffolding, or elevated work areas when required.
  • Ability to use suction cups, hand tools, power tools, glass-removal tools, and specialty installation equipment.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to troubleshoot leaks and fitment issues.
  • Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation.
  • Must be dependable, punctual, professional, and able to pass customer-site access requirements.
  • Must be able to work independently and as part of a two-person or multi-person installation crew.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to lift approximately 75 pounds individually and heavier glass with team assistance.
  • Ability to stand, bend, kneel, climb, reach, and work outdoors for extended periods.
  • Comfortable working in varying weather and jobsite conditions.
