Internship Robot Framework information

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as an Internship Robot Framework, and why are they important?

To excel in an Internship focused on Robot Framework, you need a basic understanding of software testing principles, Python programming, and familiarity with test automation concepts. Knowledge of Robot Framework, Selenium, and version control systems like Git is typically expected, while certifications in test automation can be advantageous. Strong analytical skills, eagerness to learn, and effective communication set interns apart in collaborative and fast-paced environments. These abilities are crucial for contributing to test automation projects, ensuring software quality, and supporting team goals.

What types of projects and responsibilities can I expect during an Internship focused on Robot Framework?

As an intern working with Robot Framework, you can expect to participate in tasks such as creating, maintaining, and executing automated test scripts for web or software applications. You'll likely collaborate closely with QA engineers and developers to identify test scenarios and ensure the quality of software releases. Common responsibilities include debugging test cases, reporting issues, and improving automation processes. The experience will help you gain hands-on skills in test automation, exposure to CI/CD pipelines, and an understanding of Agile team environments.

What is an Internship in Robot Framework?

An Internship in Robot Framework is a temporary position where students or recent graduates gain hands-on experience working with the Robot Framework, an open-source automation tool used for test automation and robotic process automation (RPA). Interns typically assist in writing and executing automated test cases, maintaining test scripts, and learning about quality assurance processes. This internship helps individuals develop practical skills in test automation, Python programming, and software development workflows, making them more competitive in the job market.

What is the difference between Internship Robot Framework vs QA Automation Intern?

AspectInternship Robot FrameworkQA Automation Intern
Required SkillsBasic knowledge of Robot Framework, Python, test automationKnowledge of automation tools, scripting, testing concepts
Work EnvironmentSoftware testing teams, automation projectsQuality assurance teams, testing environments
CertificationsNot mandatory, but familiarity helpsOptional certifications in testing or automation

Internship Robot Framework and QA Automation Intern roles both focus on test automation, but the former emphasizes Robot Framework skills specifically, while the latter covers broader automation tools and testing concepts. Both are entry-level positions within software testing teams, often requiring basic scripting knowledge and offering hands-on experience in quality assurance processes.

Job description

As a Field Robotics Engineer, you will support users of a dual-arm robotics research platform used by AI labs, universities, and advanced robotics teams. Your work will focus on helping customers successfully set up and operate their systems while you build strong hands-on experience in ROS2, Linux, Docker, and robotics software workflows.

What You'll Do

  • Help onboard new robotics platform users (universities, research labs, AI teams)
  • Assist with installation, setup, and initial system configuration
  • Provide technical support under guidance from senior engineers
  • Troubleshoot basic issues in ROS2, Linux environments, and Docker workflows
  • Help maintain and improve documentation, setup guides, and example projects
  • Support simulation and testing workflows (with mentorship)
  • Work with senior engineers to collect and communicate customer feedback
  • Participate in robotics workshops, demos, and conferences (ICRA, RSS, CoRL, etc.)
  • Travel ~30–40% with structured support and planning

What You Bring

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree (or near completion) in:
Robotics, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics, or related field
  • Exposure to ROS or ROS2 through coursework, capstone projects, internships, or research
  • Basic experience working in Linux (Ubuntu) environments
  • Familiarity with Python and/or C++
  • Exposure to Git/GitHub in academic or team projects
  • Basic understanding of robotics concepts:
    • Coordinate frames and transforms
    • Intro kinematics concepts
    • Sensors and actuators (high-level understanding is fine)
  • Willingness and excitement to learn robotics systems in a fast-paced environment
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to document technical work clearly

#ZR

The role offers a fast learning curve, close mentorship from experienced engineers, and meaningful ownership of real customer-facing technical problems. It's also structured for growth, with a clear path from junior engineer to more senior technical roles as you build depth in robotics systems and applied AI.
