Description
CenCore is seeking a Product Design Engineer I to support product design, manufacturing engineering, technical analysis, and engineering documentation for mission-focused products and customer requirements. Working under the direction of the Lead Product Engineer and senior engineering staff, this junior-level role is ideal for an early-career engineer with experience or developing interest in manufacturing, product design, electrical engineering, and/or RF engineering.
The Product Design Engineer I assists with design reviews, technical problem-solving, product improvement evaluations, documentation updates, and manufacturing support. This role contributes to engineering and production efforts by gathering technical information, reviewing drawings and requirements, supporting root cause analysis, and translating customer-driven needs into practical engineering inputs.
Experience supporting government contracting environments, secure facility builds, SCIF-related requirements, ICD-705 standards, or cleared manufacturing programs is preferred but not required.
Key Responsibilities
  • Support the Lead Product Engineer and senior engineering staff with product design, manufacturing engineering, technical analysis, testing, and documentation.
  • Assist in evaluating product requirements, technical drawings, engineering changes, design improvements, and manufacturing feasibility.
  • Provide engineering support for production issues, design questions, product modifications, and customer-driven technical requirements.
  • Participate in technical reviews, problem-solving sessions, and focused tiger team efforts involving manufacturing, design, electrical, or RF-related challenges.
  • Assist with root cause analysis, corrective action recommendations, troubleshooting, validation activities, and engineering documentation updates.
  • Support product design efforts involving mechanical, electrical, RF, or integrated manufacturing components.
  • Review customer requirements and help translate them into practical engineering inputs for manufacturing and product development.
  • Coordinate with production, procurement, quality, operations, and engineering teams to support successful product delivery.
  • Collect technical data, maintain design notes, update engineering records, and prepare documentation for review by senior engineering staff.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement efforts focused on product quality, manufacturability, cost efficiency, and performance.
  • Support secure facility, SCIF-related, ICD-705, or cleared manufacturing product design efforts when applicable.
  • Perform other engineering support duties as assigned.

Requirements
Required Qualifications
  • U.S. Citizenship required; must provide a valid U.S. Passport Book or Passport Card.
  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Product Design Engineering, Systems Engineering, or a related technical discipline.
  • 0-3 years of relevant engineering experience, including internships, co-ops, academic projects, or early professional engineering work.
  • Foundational knowledge of manufacturing processes, product design, engineering drawings, and technical documentation.
  • Ability to support engineering analysis, design reviews, testing, validation, and product troubleshooting.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work in fast-paced, real-time technical environments.
  • Ability to communicate technical information clearly to engineers, operations personnel, leadership, and cross-functional teams.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to follow engineering direction from senior staff.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office tools; experience with CAD, PLM, ERP, or engineering documentation systems preferred.
  • Must be able to work in the Aurora, CO area.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Exposure to electrical engineering, RF engineering, antenna systems, signal-related product design, or electronic manufacturing.
  • Prior internship or professional experience in manufacturing, defense, aerospace, secure communications, RF systems, or technical product development.
  • Familiarity with SCIF construction, ICD-705 requirements, secure facility builds, or government facility standards.
  • Experience supporting government contracts, cleared programs, or federal customer requirements.
  • Active Secret, Top Secret, or TS/SCI clearance.
  • Experience with CAD tools such as SolidWorks, AutoCAD, Creo, Inventor, or similar.
