Job description

Job Title: Internship Program Manager

Type: Part-time; 30 hours per week

Salary: $75,000 - $85,000 per year + benefits (pay dependent on experience). 

About Access Institute

Access Institute for Psychological Services is a community-based nonprofit providing high-quality, affordable mental health care to individuals and families with the greatest need and least access. For more than 24 years, Access Institute has delivered over 13,000 hours of care annually to more than 700 children, adults, and seniors. Our work spans our Hayes Valley clinic, five public elementary schools, and the Bayview-Hunters Point Adult Day Health Center.

Access Institute is also home to a rigorous, nationally renowned psychoanalytic training program for predoctoral interns and post-graduate fellows. Trainees receive extensive in-person supervision while gaining clinical experience and engaging in a rich didactic education program that integrates psychodynamic theory, sociocultural awareness, and community service.

Position Overview

Access Institute seeks a skilled and collaborative licensed psychologist to support and coordinate its APA-accredited Doctoral Internship program.

Reporting to the Director of Training and working in collaboration with the Clinical Team, the Internship Program Manager (IPM) will oversee core aspects of internship training to ensure a high-quality trainee experience, mentor emerging professionals, nurture relationships with the current network of instructors and adjunct supervisors, and support the needs of the organization. This is a hands-on role ideal for someone who enjoys program development, administration, and contributing to a high performing, collaborative team.

Essential Job Functions

Clinical/Patient Care: Treat up to 10 patients per week (10 hours)

Internship/Assessment Program Management (16 hours total)

o Supervision: Provide weekly 1:1 supervision for one intern, two fellows, and one active assessment case (4 hours)

o Intake: Review and respond to patient inquiries on assessment intake line (up to 3.5 hours) 

o Group Supervision: Weekly group meeting with interns to discuss assessment cases (1.5 hours)

o Curriculum Development: Collaborate with Training Director on content/delivery of Internship Seminar Series (2 hours)

o Faculty & Supervisor Liaison: Maintain timely communication and positive relationships with all current instructors and supervisors; cultivate new instructors and supervisors for the Internship Program. (2 hours)

o Instruction. Teach 1-2 classes per year, based on program needs and areas of interest/expertise (2 hours)

o Admin/Flex Time (1 hour)

Standing Weekly Meetings: Grand Rounds, SCPG/Community, Clinical Team, Staff (4 hours)

Requirements

Demonstrated commitment to Access Institute's mission.

Licensed Psychologist, preferred with 5+ years of post-licensure clinical experience with an emphasis on psychological and neuropsychological assessment work.

Completion of Board of Psychology & Board of Behavioral Sciences requirements for supervision of trainees.

Experience with supervision of mental health interns and/or postgraduate trainees.

Strong organization, communication, and relationship-building skills.

Knowledge of and sensitivity to issues of diversity, especially regarding race, sexual orientation, socioeconomic status, culture, language, and gender.
