Entertainment Director
Kalahari Resorts & Conventions is seeking an Entertainment Director. In this role, you'll be responsible for overseeing and coordinating the planning, organizing, developing, and implementing entertainment. Responsibilities include technical planning and production, hiring of talent and artisans, planning of guest activities, supply procurement and contract negotiations, as well as collaborating with corporate marketing teams on strategic marketing and PR plans.
As part of our leadership team, you'll embody our Promise to Lead with Love-guiding, supporting, and inspiring associates while delivering extraordinary guest experiences. You'll create engaging, memorable entertainment programs that drive guest satisfaction, repeat visits, and resort energy. You'll also foster a positive workplace culture by leading, motivating, and developing entertainment teams that deliver exceptional service and interactive experiences across the property.
Key Responsibilities
  • Book live entertainment, curate artisan schedules and implement art and craft spaces, coordinate daily/weekly/monthly calendar of activities and entertainment, assist with major resort-wide events.
  • Create connections with local Fredericksburg, DC, and Richmond area for arts and entertainment peers.
  • Supervise and direct seasonal interns and/or assistants and other associates.
  • Schedule labor as required by anticipated business activity while ensuring that all positions are staffed when and as needed and labor cost objectives are met.
  • Exercise discretion and independent judgment in the selection and delivery of guest activities.
  • Chair the special events committee to inform managers and coordinate promotional techniques/information and upcoming events.
  • Coordinate with Group Sales for client-requested entertainment.
  • Ensure tech scheduling for all AV needs.
  • Create weekly signage, display, and guest activities guide.
  • Coordinate advertising and marketing for upcoming special events that coincide with and complement resort marketing and public relations departments.
  • Provide the website designer with activities, holiday celebrations, promotions, and special events. This must include advanced dates, times, and descriptions.
  • Remain fluid in functions as requirements change based on the growth and needs of the Resort.
  • Fully understand and comply with all federal, state, county, and municipal regulations that pertain to health, safety, and labor requirements of the associates and guests.

What We're Looking For
  • Bachelor of Arts degree with a production, marketing, entertainment promotion, or related field preferred, or four years of relevant work experience.
  • 5+ years of management experience in an event or art venue, hotel, resort, or production environment.
  • Valid driver's license required.
  • Positive, enthusiastic, and passionate personality.

Physical Demands
  • Ability to work in a variety of environments, with often high noise levels.
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
  • The Associate must frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
