NBCUniversal Local Stations is NBCUniversal's local media division that delivers English and Spanish-speakers and bilingual audiences in 31 U.S. markets and Puerto Rico, the very best in local sports, news, weather, consumer and investigative reporting, and lifestyle entertainment across any platform and screen. KNTV Community Engagement:

  • Assist in planning, coordinating, and executing community engagement campaigns, station initiatives, and special events throughout the Bay Area, including occasional weekend activations.
  • Collaborate with News, Marketing, Sales, Creative Services, and other station departments to develop community partnerships, execute strategic initiatives, and create meaningful impact throughout the Bay Area.
  • Build and maintain relationships with nonprofit organizations, community leaders, sponsors, and community partners in support of station initiatives.
  • Coordinate the production of Community Calendar listings, Public Service Announcements (PSAs), and other promotional materials by working with community partners and internal teams.
  • Assist in drafting press materials, media advisories, press releases, and other communications to promote community initiatives, partnerships, and station events.
  • Research community organizations, events, partnership opportunities, and story ideas that align with station priorities.
  • Identify compelling community stories, nonprofit partners, and potential guests for news and community affairs programming.
  • Write PSA scripts, community event articles, newsletters, post-event recaps, social media content, and other digital communications.
  • Capture photography and video, including b-roll, at community events for promotional, editorial, and social media use.
  • Represent NBC Bay Area and Telemundo 48 as a professional and engaging station ambassador at community events.
  • Assist with project management by maintaining event timelines, organizing marketing materials, tracking campaign results, managing department invoices, and supporting day-to-day operations.
  • Gather and distribute on-air news clips and other promotional assets to community partners.
  • Utilize Microsoft Office, Adobe Creative Suite, and other digital tools to support departmental initiatives.
  • Perform other duties as assigned in support of the Community Engagement team.

Qualifications

Basic Requirements:

  • Must be actively enrolled in a degree-granting program at an accredited institution during the entire duration of the program. Recent graduates are not eligible for our internship program.
  • Current class standing of Junior or above.
  • Must be presently authorized to work for any employer in the United States and must not require work visa sponsorship from NBCUniversal now or in the future to retain authorization to work in the United States.
  • Must be available to work 20 hours per week during duration of internship.
  • Must be willing to work in San Jose, CA.

For further clarification, candidates currently on any student or exchange visa (e.g. F-1 CPT, F-1 OPT, J-1, M-1) are not eligible to apply unless they will be able to change or adjust to another status that grants work authorization without NBCUniversal sponsorship.

NBCUniversal is an E-Verify company, requiring all employees to have an active Social Security number. Any candidate receiving an internship offer must complete I-9 form with Social Security number within 3 days of hire.

Desired Characteristics:

  • Pursuing a degree in Marketing, Communications, Public Relations, Journalism, or a related field preferred.
  • Passion for community engagement, storytelling, and serving diverse communities.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with exceptional attention to detail.
  • Highly organized with the ability to manage multiple projects in a fast-paced environment.
  • Self-motivated, collaborative, and eager to learn.
  • Experience with social media, digital content creation, photography, or videography is a plus.
  • Experience with Adobe Creative Suite is a plus.

Base Salary is $18.45 per hour
