Where You Will Work 

 

Located approximately 50 miles northeast of Safford, Arizona on U.S. Highway 191, Morenci operations (an open-pit copper mining complex) has been in continuous operation since 1939. The operation consists of two concentrators, crushed-ore leach pad and stacking system, a low-grade run-of-mine (ROM) leaching system; four SX plants; and three EW tank houses that produce copper cathode.

What You Will Do

Under general supervision, you supervise, coordinate, and control the safe and efficient operation of an assigned work unit. You assign, supervise, and review the work of staff in the assigned work unit, implement production plans according to the approved schedule, and may participate in the full range of daily operational duties performing the most difficult tasks. You inspect and evaluate work in progress, identify problem areas, and may direct remedial action. You conduct performance evaluations on subordinate staff, prepare estimates of staffing, materials, and equipment requirements for projected work activities, and maintain an inventory of parts and materials. You approve purchases of materials and equipment, maintain time, materials and equipment use reports, and requisition tools, supplies, materials, and equipment. You train staff in safety procedures and maintain safety data sheets for crews, and you perform other duties as required.

What You Bring To Freeport
  • High school diploma or GED AND five (5) years of related operational experience including supervisory or lead experience

OR

  • Bachelor's degree in a technical mining related discipline with at least one summer internship experience (or equivalent) working in a mining or industrial environment including supervisory or lead experience
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with overhead cranes
  • Experience with instrumentation including REXA valves, flow meters and pressure transmitters experience
  • Rectifier experience
  • Knowledge of electrical safety (NFPA 70 E)

What We Offer You 

The estimated annual pay range for this role is currently$93,000 - $127,500 annually.This range reflects base salary only and does not include bonus payments, benefits or retirement contributions. Actual base pay is determined by experience, qualifications, skills and other job-related factors. This role is eligible for additional discretionary and incentive payment considerations based on company and individual performance. More details will be shared during the hiring process.
