Description
At Weyerhaeuser, our IT team is on a mission to transform the timber industry. We are implementing technology that will keep us at the forefront of innovation in the forest products industry. Weyerhaeuser is seeking a Network Administrator II to work full-time within North America*. We are looking for a talented administrator with a focus on network operations who is highly motivated to innovate, optimize and automate. As a key contributor to our Enterprise Technical Solution - Network Services team, this position provides direct ownership of key infrastructure technologies. The position draws on experience deploying, monitoring, troubleshooting and refreshing network route/switch equipment, firewalls, WAN equipment, as well as general understanding of network routing concepts such as BGP. A successful candidate will understand the guiding principles of the standard OSI and Purdue models, and how both contribute to resilient enterprise networks.
Position Expectations
Planning, maintaining, and monitoring the core and remote site network hardware:
Use standard monitoring tools (SolarWinds, Catalyst Center, Meraki Dashboard, etc.) to ensure network availability and eliminate configuration drift.
Troubleshoot, configure, and operate network devices such as switches, routers, firewalls, SDWAN appliances and wireless access points.
Follow all documented standard operating procedures in accordance with IT security policies.
Implements, and optimizes network solution designs aligned with company standards.
Follow standard procedures for deploying new network hardware and services.
Manage and maintain network diagrams.
Manage and maintain network asset database.
Contribute to automation of network configuration and operational tasks.
Engage with key vendors and service providers as needed for escalation and incident resolution.
Partner with, and support, the business to maintain optimal network services.
Travel as necessary to facilities across North America, expected travel 10 - 15%.
Participate in on-call rotation (one week every 6-8 weeks).
Consistent drive towards operational excellence:
Ensure network infrastructure is maintained and updated with applicable firmware and security updates.
Proactively evaluate the as-is deployment for new, innovative enhancements to improve performance, security, efficiency, and cost.

Additional Qualifications/Responsibilities
Qualifications
3+ years of practical network services experience, Bachelor's Degree in IT (or equivalent) a plus
Solid understanding of the TCP/IP Networking Model.
Solid understanding of data link concepts such as VLANs, spanning tree, 802.1q trunking, and wireless networking.
Solid understanding of network layer concepts including dynamic routing (BGP), manipulation of inbound and outbound routing updates and traffic engineering best practices.
Solid understanding of transport concepts such as TCP and UDP.
Solid understanding of encapsulation technologies including IPSEC and GRE over IPSec.Demonstrated understanding of application data flow on a network.
Solid understanding of the fundamentals of application-aware firewall technologies.
Solid understanding of the fundamentals of SDWAN technologies.
Possesses proficient level technical knowledge and skills and a fundamental knowledge of how network technologies are integrated.
Understanding of basic authentication and network access concepts including ISE, TACACS, Kerberos, and other AAA services.
Familiarity with fundamentals of network automation and DevOps practices using Python or Ansible a plus.
Excellent oral and written communication skills.
Skilled in communicating technical topics to non-technical audiences.
Excellent collaboration skills in working together with others across all IT segments.
Experience working in a manufacturing environment and understanding the reliability, sensitivity, and critical requirements of network requirements and expectations.
Skilled in solving highly complex problems and translating business requirements into technical solutions.
Skilled understanding of IT Service Management.
Able to apply business knowledge to develop and deliver innovative, value-added improvements.
Proven ability to operate and effectively communicate while under pressure; as well as the ability to manage a diverse workload and work under time constraints with minimal supervision.
Additional Desired Qualifications:
Experience operating in a multi-cloud computing environment (AWS, Azure, etc.)
Knowledge and/or experience with Meraki, Cisco, Palo Alto, VeloCloud technologies.
Experience working with OT/ICS manufacturing environments.
Network+, CCNA, and/or Palo Alto Certifications would be an asset.
What We Offer:
Compensation: This role is eligible for our annual merit-increase program, and we are targeting a salary range of $98,811 - $148,217 based on your level of skills, qualifications and experience. You will also be eligible for our Annual Incentive Program, which offers a cash bonus targeting 10% of base pay. Potential plan funding may range from zero to two times that target.
