Internship Remote Medical Scribe information

What is an internship remote medical scribe?

An Internship Remote Medical Scribe is a trainee who assists healthcare providers by documenting patient encounters and medical information remotely, usually through a secure online platform. The role typically involves listening to real-time or recorded patient visits and entering data into electronic health records (EHRs). This internship provides hands-on experience in medical documentation, exposure to healthcare workflows, and can be a valuable stepping stone for students interested in medical or health-related careers. Remote medical scribing allows interns to gain relevant skills without being physically present in a clinical setting. The position requires strong attention to detail, proficiency with technology, and a good understanding of medical terminology.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as an internship remote medical scribe?

To thrive as an Internship Remote Medical Scribe, you need a solid understanding of medical terminology, strong typing ability, and attention to detail, often supported by coursework in health sciences or pre-med studies. Familiarity with electronic health record (EHR) systems and basic transcription software is typically required. Excellent listening skills, discretion, and the ability to multitask in a remote setting make candidates stand out. These skills are crucial for ensuring accurate, timely medical documentation that supports efficient patient care and aids healthcare providers.

What are some common challenges faced by remote medical scribes during their internship, and how can they overcome them?

Remote medical scribe interns often face challenges such as staying focused in a home environment, learning complex medical terminology, and quickly adapting to different providers' documentation styles. To overcome these challenges, it's important to establish a dedicated workspace, proactively seek feedback from supervisors, and utilize available training resources to build medical vocabulary. Regular communication with your assigned provider and scribe team can also help clarify expectations and ensure accuracy in documentation.

Job description

Data Pipeline Engineer (Junior - Mid)
Location: Washington D.C. Area / Remote
Employment Type: Full-TimeAbout SERVISS
At SERVISS, we deliver cutting-edge cybersecurity and IT solutions to government and commercial clients, with a mission to secure systems, data, and critical infrastructure through innovation and expertise. We don't just deploy tools; we engineer mission platforms that become foundational systems of record for cyber operations, compliance automation, and national cyber readiness. From CISA CDM to DoW mission enclaves, our work shapes how government sees, governs, and defends its digital terrain.
On the DHS CDM Data Services Program, our engineers build the data pipelines and Elasticsearch platforms that give agency stakeholders a unified, single-pane-of-glass view of their cyber terrain.
Position Summary
SERVISS is seeking a Junior Data Pipeline Engineer to join an established Pipeline team on the DHS CDM Data Services Program, supporting the data ingestion and pipeline function. Working alongside senior engineers, you will help build and maintain the pipelines that pull asset and cyber-intelligence data from SaaS platforms, primarily Armis and Axonius, into Elasticsearch, feeding a single-pane-of-glass dashboard that agency stakeholders use to view all of their technical data in one place.
This is a hands-on role ideal for an early-career engineer who wants to grow deep expertise in data engineering, the Elastic Stack, and federal cybersecurity operations. The ideal candidate is a fast learner who can take direction, collaborate across teams, and steadily take on greater ownership as they ramp.
The Work
This is a hands-on engineering role. The selected candidate will:
  • Build, configure, and maintain data-ingestion jobs that pull data from Armis, Axonius, and other API sources into Elasticsearch, under the guidance of senior engineers
  • Write and maintain ingestion and transformation scripts (e.g., Python) and Logstash / ingest-pipeline configurations
  • Monitor pipeline health, triage failures, and investigate data-quality and data-freshness issues
  • Assist in developing and updating Elasticsearch mappings and Kibana dashboards and visualizations
  • Perform data validation and reconciliation checks between source platforms and Elasticsearch, and help maintain data lineage documentation
  • Support routine maintenance such as credential/token rotation, index cleanup, and retention tasks
  • Contribute code and configuration changes through Git and CI/CD, following team standards
Key Responsibilities
  • Work alongside senior engineers to build and maintain the pipelines that feed the agency's single-pane-of-glass dashboard on the DHS CDM Data Services / BETSIE Program
  • Take direction, collaborate across teams, and steadily take on greater ownership as you ramp
  • Document pipelines, configurations, and operational runbooks
  • Learn and apply data engineering, Elastic Stack, and DevSecOps best practices
Required Qualifications
  • US citizenship with the ability to obtain Public Trust Suitability
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field
  • 1 to 3 years of experience in data engineering, software development, systems/data analysis, or a closely related role (strong internship, lab, or academic project experience considered)
  • Scripting ability in Python (or a similar language) for data manipulation and automation
  • Familiarity with relational or NoSQL data concepts and basic data modeling
  • Exposure to Elasticsearch/OpenSearch or another search/analytics platform, or a demonstrated ability to ramp quickly
  • Understanding of REST APIs and working with JSON data
Familiarity with Git and version-control basicsPreferred Qualifications
  • Hands-on exposure to the Elastic Stack (Elasticsearch, Logstash, Kibana, Beats)
  • Experience calling REST APIs and handling paginated or authenticated responses
  • Exposure to Armis, Axonius, or other asset-intelligence / security tooling
  • Familiarity with cyber-relevant data standards (e.g., SCAP, STIX, Elastic Common Schema, Splunk Common Information Model)
  • Familiarity with Docker, CI/CD, or cloud environments (AWS / Azure)
  • Interest in or exposure to federal cybersecurity, CDM, or FISMA reporting
  • Relevant coursework or certifications in data engineering, cloud, or cybersecurity
  • Familiarity with Agile / SCRUM methodologies
Freedom to Thrive.
Why Join SERVISS? Our goal as an employer is simple yet profound: to create an environment where you can be your best self, pursue your passions, and enjoy the freedom to thrive both personally and professionally. Your success is our success, and we're committed to supporting you every step of the way.

  • 100% of medical, vision, dental, and life insurance premiums paid for by SERVISS
  • Be part of an exciting company with ground floor opportunities in the Equity Participation Program
  • Opportunities for annual performance bonuses and growth incentives
  • 401(k) retirement plan with 6% dollar for dollar match
