  • Gain experience in proofreading social posts for consistency of APA style and correct grammar, spelling, and punctuation.
  • Identify trends in user engagement and learn about digital content and analytics tools.
  • Perform tasks such as monitoring social media user feedback through Sprout Social and engage with social media team on strategy for improved maintenance of channels.
  • Identify key influencers within the psychological community, including APA members, and build lists of key publics for specific social media campaigns.
  • Learn basic day-to-day social media procedures as well as web content duties.
  • Interns will generally be expected to work for a minimum of 10 hours (including approximately 1 hour of Internal Internship Programming) per week. Specific hour-to-academic credit ratios will be agreed upon between the intern’s university and the APA hiring team.

Expected Learning Objectives & Professional Advancement Opportunities:

  • Content Creation & Copywriting — Writing and editing content for various platforms (social media, web articles, newsletters, other digital campaigns), learning how to adapt tone, voice, and format for different audiences and channels.
  • Social Media Management — Hands-on experience scheduling posts, monitoring engagement, and understanding platform-specific best practices (Instagram, LinkedIn, YouTube, etc.), plus how to read analytics to refine strategy.
  • Data Analysis & Reporting — Using tools like Google Analytics, Meta Business Suite, or similar platforms to track performance metrics, draw insights, and translate data into actionable recommendations.
