Tax Senior (Accounting Firm)

Chicago, Illinois, United States

A mid-sized accounting firm committed to providing exceptional client accounting services is currently recruiting a talented individual to join their team as a Tax Senior.

Reports to: Tax Manager

Key responsibilities:

  • First year seniors 70% review and 30% preparation, experienced seniors 100% review of tax returns for Partnerships (1065), and S and C-corps (1120), Individuals (1040) and others, as assigned.
  • Handle routine client tax questions, research tax issues, and work with clients to collect necessary information for tax return completion and compliance.
  • Assist in tax field exams and any tax notice resolutions.
  • Recognize and inform senior management of opportunities to increase level and types of services to clients.
  • Assist with training and developing staff and interns.
  • Manage a team of 3.

Key experience and skills:

  • CPA license or pursuing a CPA (eligible to sit with 150 credit hours)
  • 2+ years of experience in public accounting at a mid-market firm (no Big 4 candidates)
  • Experience in tax review, preparation and returns for Partnerships, S and C-corps and Individuals
  • Client experience in: Manufacturing, real estate, professional services, restaurant, and retail.
  • Bachelors degree in accounting.
  • 2+ years of experience in public accounting industry at a mid-market firm
