Job description


LS Technologies, a Tetra Tech company, is seeking a Senior Red Hat System Administrator or Engineer who will support on-prem IT infrastructures running Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) in a virtualized environment. You will provide Second Level Engineering support for systems providing enterprise cybersecurity services in a dev/test/prod deployment environment supporting critical FAA cybersecurity capabilities.
In this role, the Senior Red Hat System Administrator\Engineer will work as part of a dynamic team of network and application administrators and engineers and will be responsible for developing and maintaining RHEL deployments supporting cybersecurity applications. You'll work with teammates to design, configure, test, and deploy automation of task and integration of RHEL into the infrastructure ecosystem. You will apply strong security best practices and assist with developing an approach for patching, upgrades, and tuning when system maintenance is required. The Senior Red Hat System Administrator\Engineer will support the development and management of container technologies and the integration of DevSecOps solutions. You will also be responsible for the development and maintenance of operations-related documentation, including configuration data, change requests, installation procedures, knowledge base articles, Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), engineering diagrams, and test plans.
Job Duties & Responsibilities (may include but are not limited to):
• Requirements development, analysis and supporting comprehensive trade studies
• Engineer or design storage requirements to support virtual deployments of applications using RHEL
• Provision, scale, and maintain enterprise container platforms (e.g., Red Hat OpenShift, Kubernetes)
• Manage cluster networking, persistent storage integration, and node health.
• Design and maintain sophisticated Ansible playbooks and roles to automate the entire lifecycle-from bare OS provisioning and virtual machine deployment to container cluster configuration and application rollouts
• Implement and enforce DISA STIG standards across both the Linux operating system layer and the container runtime environments
• Act as the highest escalation point for complex technical issues spanning the operating system, hypervisor, network, and container orchestrator
• Ability to apply system engineering techniques to solve and mitigate cyber vulnerabilities
• Experience working in a multi-platform (Microsoft, RHEL, VMWare,) infrastructure.
• Experience with RHEL 8+, RHHI, Openshift, Ansible
• Experience with using ticketing systems and Tier II or higher helpdesk
• Knowledge of Linux iptables, networking configuration, and DNS
• Minimum of 10 years of hands-on experience designing, developing, and deploying RHEL environments
• Ability to work independently and in a group to resolve technical issues in a dynamic environment
Qualifications
Required: A successful candidate will have
• 10+ years of experience performing Red Hat Linux systems engineering, with at least 3 years of hands-on experience architecting and managing production-grade Kubernetes or Red Hat OpenShift environments
• Proficiency managing traditional virtualized IT infrastructure (storage, LVM, networking) while simultaneously supporting container technologies and microservices
• Demonstrated experience with
• Experience in hardening enterprise environments using DISA STIGs, utilizing tools like OpenSCAP, SCAP Compliance Checker (SCC), or automated remediation playbooks
• Minimum of a B.S. in Computer Science preferred

• Red Hat Certified Specialist in OpenShift Administration or Certified Kubernetes Administrator (CKA)
• CompTIA Security+ or equivalent
Work Requirements:
• Work location: William J Hughes Technical Center, Atlantic City, NJ or Mike Monroney Aeronautical Center, Oklahoma City, Oklahoma
Position is: Completely in-person/on-site
• Work Hours: 40/week
• Travel: Minimal, but possible
• Physical requirements:
o Extended Computer Use: Regular and prolonged periods of working at a computer terminal.
o Lifting and Carrying: Occasional lifting of equipment and materials weighing up to 50 pounds may be required during installations or maintenance.
o Mobility: Ability to move around the office environment to access computer hardware, networking equipment, and server rooms.
o Dexterity: Manual dexterity and visual acuity to operate computer equipment, troubleshoot issues, and perform tasks requiring precision.
o Sitting/Standing: Both prolonged sitting and occasional standing may be required for troubleshooting and attending to system issues.

Salary at LST is determined by a wide array of factors, such as (but not limited to) education, certifications, knowledge, skills, competencies, and experience, location, and clearance level, as well as contract-specific affordability and organizational requirements and applicable employment laws. The projected compensation range for this position is provided within the posting and is based on full-time, 40 hour/week status. Part-time staff receive compensation at an hourly rate.
