Job description

Job Description The Lead Housekeeping/Setup worker is devoted to setup and housekeeping functions at the Raleigh Convention Center (RCC). This will include work in all areas of the RCC including setting up tables, chairs, risers and cleaning restrooms, lobby areas, meeting rooms, etc., as well as some areas of Red Hat Amphitheater if needed. This work is performed in multiple shifts up to 7 days a week

This position will serve as the crew lead when the Maintenance and Ops Crew Supervisor is not on-duty. About You: You're the Ideal Candidate if You Have: The ability to work a flexible schedule, including evenings, weekends and holidays, as determined by venue events The ability to effectively perform janitorial functions to maintain venue cleanliness and set up facility equipment and furnishings to support events Can efficiently take down facility equipment and furnishings while returning all items to appropriate locations, ensuring items are clean and operable for future use, and/or reporting any damage to supervisor Good customer service skills to provide face-to-face customer service to facility users and guests Skills, confidence and the ability to serve as a crew lead to oversee the quantity and quality of work and address client and staff concerns About Us: The Raleigh Convention and Performing Arts Center (RCPAC) has an amazing team of people who operate four unique venues known as The Complex - the Raleigh Convention Center, Martin Marietta Center for the Performing Arts, Red Hat Amphitheater, and Coastal Credit Union Music Park at Walnut Creek. Some weekends, mornings & holidays are required. Shifts will vary according to event schedule. Duties and Responsibilities The intent of this job description is to provide a representative summary of the major duties and responsibilities performed by employees in this job.

Employees may be requested to perform job-related tasks other than those specifically presented in this description. Performs general maintenance supporting the housekeeping and set up functions for the Raleigh Convention Center; selects proper cleaning tools and equipment for tasks; performs work following established safety policies and procedures Operates and maintains assigned cleaning equipment; performs inspections to ensure safe operating conditions; cleans and performs preventative maintenance; and monitors need for replacement or advanced repairs Serves as a lead worker for housekeeping/setup works assigned to the RCC. Assigns tasks, provides direction as needed and ensures proper cleaning of all aspects of the Center Prioritizes and responds to customer requests and addresses issues or cleaning needs and set up needs; reviews operational issues; Plans, monitors and reviews inventory, resources and materials needs; may work with contract workers or vendors who are performing services within the RCC Engages with internal staff and clients as needed to immediately respond to needs.

Performs both preventative and long-term housekeeping functions Direct work oversees quantity and quality of work and address client and staff concerns As a lead worker, this position will be expected to address issues as they arise during a shift. In addition, they will serve as the key point of contact for staff and client needs when on-duty Typical Qualifications Required Education and Experience: Associate's Degree in Horticulture, Landscape Design, Grounds Maintenance, Pest Control or related field; 3 to 5 years' experience in specialized turf maintenance, landscape design/maintenance, parks maintenance, arboriculture, or related work OR Any equivalent combination of training and/or experience that provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities may be substituted Required Licenses or Certifications: Valid North Carolina Class C Driver's License with a satisfactory driving record, or the ability to obtain within 60 days of hire Additional Information Knowledge Of: Facilities housekeeping and setup Department policies and relevant City ordinances and laws Modern office practices and procedures including the use of standard office equipment and computer applications such as word processing, database, and spreadsheet applications Skill In: Following directions and meeting standards and providing attention to detail in assignments. Leading the work of others Training employees Customer service Ability to: Respond to emergency situations Assist the supervisor with tasks and responsibilities Communicate with coworkers, supervisors, the general public and others to sufficiently exchange or convey information and to receive work directions ADA and Other Requirements: Work Environment and Physical Effort: Medium: Exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, up to 25 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects.

Work Environment: Work is typically performed in an outdoor environment, construction site, a street environment (near moving traffic) and in a vehicle. Employees may occasionally work in an office or similar indoor environment, warehouse environment, or shop environment. Work Exposures: There is frequent exposure to individuals who are hostile or irate, moving mechanical parts, fumes or airborne particles and loud noises (85+ decibels average over 8-hour working day such as heavy trucks, jack hammers, leaf blowers, lawn mowers, construction).

Employees may occasionally interact with individuals with known violent backgrounds, extreme cold (below 32 degrees), extreme heat (above 100 degrees), and Toxic or caustic chemicals or substances.
