Interns assist with patient positioning, equipment operation, and treatment planning while learning to ensure patient safety and comfort. This role provides practical exposure to clinical protocols, radiation safety measures, and teamwork within a healthcare setting. It is typically part of a formal educational program and helps prepare interns for certification and professional practice.

What kinds of responsibilities and learning opportunities can I expect during an internship radiation therapist position?

As an internship radiation therapist, you'll shadow experienced professionals and gradually take on key responsibilities such as preparing patients for treatment, assisting with equipment setup, and maintaining accurate treatment records. You'll learn how to operate specialized machines like linear accelerators and become familiar with safety protocols to protect both patients and staff. Interns often collaborate closely with licensed radiation therapists, oncologists, and medical physicists, gaining hands-on experience in a multidisciplinary setting. This role provides valuable exposure to real-world cases and paves the way for future certification and career advancement in radiation therapy.
