The Queer Self Care Mental Therapy Center is seeking a dedicated and qualified Trauma-Informed Mental Health Counselor to join our remote team. This position is primarily remote, allowing you to provide care from a supportive environment of your choosing while also maintaining access to our outpatient office for collaboration and team meetings. Key Responsibilities

As a Trauma-Informed Mental Health Counselor, your daily activities will include:

  • Conducting thorough trauma-informed mental health evaluations to assess the trauma histories of patients and ensuring an accurate and empathetic understanding of their backgrounds.
  • Developing and implementing personalized treatment plans focusing on trauma recovery, which may include methods like Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) and Trauma-Focused Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT).
  • Facilitating one-on-one and group therapy sessions that encourage patients to unpack their trauma experiences, learn coping strategies, and foster a supportive community for recovery.
  • Collaborating closely with psychiatrists and other healthcare professionals to provide holistic care and ensure a seamless treatment plan for each patient.
  • Offering crisis intervention services during trauma-related emergencies and providing immediate support to affected individuals.
  • Educating patients and their families about trauma responses and available resources to promote healing and growth.
  • Maintaining meticulous and secure documentation in compliance with legal and ethical standards while leveraging electronic health record (EHR) systems for efficiency and accuracy.
  • Participating in regular case consultations and team meetings to enhance professional development and share insights with colleagues.
  • Staying informed of the latest advancements in trauma treatment to continually enhance your skills and the care provided.
Patient Population / Client Focus

You will primarily work with individuals who have experienced trauma, many of whom identify as part of the LGBTQ+ community. Imparting understanding and support to these patients is crucial, as they often face unique barriers in accessing mental health care. Your approach will emphasize affirming their identities and guiding them through recovery with sensitivity and compassion.

Qualifications

The successful candidate will possess the following:

  • A master's or doctorate degree in disciplines such as social work, mental health counseling, marriage and family therapy, or psychology from an accredited institution.
  • A current and valid state license as an LCSW, LPCC, LMFT, or Psychologist.
  • At least two years of post-licensure experience in mental health counseling is preferred.
  • A deep understanding of trauma-related disorders and trauma-informed care principles.
  • Outstanding communication skills, alongside a calm and supportive demeanor in high-stress situations.
  • Proficiency in electronic health record (EHR) use and familiarity with various digital tools and applications.
  • An eagerness to collaborate within a multidisciplinary environment, fostering a team-oriented approach to patient care.
Preferred Experience
