Job description

Zachry Engineering Corporation (ZEC) is currently looking an early career Engineer of Projects for our Hammond, IN office.  The ideal candidate will have at least two years of experience in an engineering discipline or project management experience with projects with early conceptual design through startup and construction. 

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering.

  • 2 plus years of experience in Engineering (internships are eligible).

  • Strong communication and inter-personal skills are required to provide effective intra and inter-discipline coordination on projects, as well as effective communication with clients and vendors.

  • Must be organized, self-directed, able to prioritize and multi-task, work in a team environment and take direction from others.

  • Willingness to learn and work on a variety of tasks within multiple industries.

  • Will be based mainly out of the Downers Grove, IL office, but willingness to travel and work in office and field environments as required.

  • Fast learner with an avid interest in planning and execution aspects of project management.

  • Support the Project Engineer in planning, organizing, and controlling assigned aspects of a project. Focusing on engineering and technical aspects.

  • Implement project execution activities assigned from the Project Manager.

  • Coordinate design engineering activities for development of engineered deliverables working with various engineering departments.

  • Review engineered drawings for consistency with work scope and address input from disciplines.

  • Assist engineering discipline leads to coordinate engineering and design efforts, activities, and deliverables from overseas and other domestic offices.

  • Ensure field trip reports and meeting minutes are completed accurately and in a timely manner.

  • Responsible for managing project communications using appropriate project management tools.

  • Monitor and control project performance using various tools such as earned value tracking, progress reporting, forecasting and corrective actions where needed.

  • Update, inform and clarify project outcomes, deliverables, potential problems, and project needs.
