Job description

Job Title: Jr Accountant/Auditor Location: Rockville, Maryland Type: Ongoing Contract Compensation: $22.00 - $25.00 Work Model: Hybrid – onsite and remote Hours: 40 hrs a week Security Clearance: None but full background check to include criminal and credit check

Responsibilities

  • Assist in preparing and updating audit plans and workpapers under the guidance of senior staff.
  • Support risk assessment activities by gathering data and documenting findings.
  • Perform basic reconciliations of accounts and assist with financial analysis tasks.
  • Help draft audit summaries and periodic reports for management review.
  • Participate in internal control reviews and document recommendations provided by senior auditors.
  • Collaborate with team members to ensure compliance with County policies and procedures.
  • Provide administrative and research support for special projects as assigned.
Requirements
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field (required).
  • CPA eligibility or interest in pursuing certification (preferred but not required).
  • 0–2 years of experience in accounting or auditing (internship experience counts).
  • Strong attention to detail and willingness to learn new systems and processes.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel; familiarity with ERP systems (Oracle EBS experience is a plus).
