The Skilled Laborer position assists the skilled craft personnel in performing required construction tasks to complete a project.

Education:

ยท         Highschool or equivalent

ยท         Valid driver's license

ยท         Authorized to work in the United States

Experience:

ยท         Experience and proficiency working with standard laborer tools such as (but not limited to): sledgehammers, shovels, brooms, vacuums, pressure washers and general hand tools.

ยท         Boat operation and barge experience preferred

ยท         Prior general/skilled labor experience a plus

ยท         Concrete experience preferred

Responsibilities:

ยท         Operate and care for construction equipment and machines.

ยท         Prep construction sites by cleaning obstacles and hazards.

ยท         Load, unload, or identify building materials, machinery, or tools, distributing them to the appropriate locations, according to project plans or specifications.

ยท         Measure, mark, or record openings or distances to layout areas where construction work will be performed.

ยท         Dig ditches or trenches, backfill excavations, or compact and level earth to grade specifications, using picks, shovels, pneumatic tampers, or rakes.

ยท         Mix, pour, or spread concrete, using portable cement mixers.

ยท         Tend pumps, compressors, or generators to provide power for tools, machinery, or equipment or to heat or move materials, such as asphalt.

ยท         Erect or dismantle scaffolding, shoring, braces, traffic barricades, ramps, or other temporary structures.

ยท         Sweeps and cleans the project site.

ยท         Carries lumber and supplies to Carpenters

ยท         Helps carpenters assemble concrete forms

ยท         Assists welders when needed

ยท         Works with cranes and rigging

ยท         Acts as signal person for the equipment operators

ยท         Chips, paints, sweeps, and washes down equipment on the job site

ยท         Safely secure the work area to allow only authorized personnel onto work zone

ยท         Loads and unloads materials from, deck barges, and miscellaneous equipment

ยท         Provide assistance to craft workers, such as carpenters, plasterers, or masons.

ยท         Performs other duties as required.

ยท         Work is performed in the field and in all-weather condition

ยท         Must be able to perform physical activities that require considerable use of your arms and legs and moving your whole body, such as climbing, lifting, balancing, walking, stooping, and handling of materials up to 75 pounds.

ยท         Ability able to tolerate, vibrations, heat, and high noise levels

ยท         Able to safely execute duties in and round heavy equipment/large machinery in marine dredging and marine construction job sites
