 Job Title: Surgical Technologist – Plastic Surgery
Location: Mike O’Callaghan Military Medical Center (MOMMC), Nellis AFB, NV, 89191
Tentative Start Date: 01, Jun 2026
No. of FTEs Required: 1 FTE
Work Schedule: Monday–Friday 0730–1630. Scheduled for a 9-hour period including an uncompensated 60-minute lunch break for a 40-hour work week. 
Qualifications:
  • Education: Graduate from a Surgical Technology Program recognized and accredited by CAAHEP or ABHES or NCCT or Completion of a formal military surgical technician/operating room technician training program.
  • Experience: Minimum 12 months’ experience within the last 36 months as a surgical services technician. Clinic operations experience desired.
  • License/Certification:
    • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
    • Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) from NBSTSA OR Tech-in-Surgery Certified (TS-C) from NCCT OR Applicable Military Occupational Specialty qualification.
Responsibilities:
  • Ensure all surgical instruments, supplies, and equipment required for plastic surgery procedures are available and functioning properly.
  • Maintain sterile fields and adhere to aseptic and infection control procedures during surgical procedures.
  • Assist surgeons and nursing staff during plastic surgery diagnostic, therapeutic, wound care, and emergency procedures.
  • Prepare surgical suites, procedure rooms, and pre-operative bays for patient care activities.
  • Clean and prepare procedure rooms following surgical procedures and properly dispose of contaminated materials and biohazardous waste.
  • Assemble, operate, and maintain diagnostic and therapeutic surgical equipment utilized in plastic surgery procedures.
  • Assist anesthesia personnel with patient positioning and anesthesia administration support activities.
  • Perform terminal cleaning of operating rooms and prepare surgical areas for follow-up procedures.
  • Maintain accurate inventories of surgical supplies, soft goods, and specialty equipment.
  • Assist with medical record documentation, clinic information systems, and administrative clinic functions.
  • Support patient scheduling, appointment coordination, and front desk operations as required.
  • Instruct patients regarding pre-operative and post-operative care procedures.
  • Participate in required training, competency verification, process improvement initiatives, and medical readiness activities.
  • Remain current with surgical procedures, techniques, equipment, and plastic surgery clinical practices.
