A successful Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery practice with thriving Aesthetic, Laser and Injectable business located in Newton, MA is looking for an experienced Surgical Scrub Technician to work in the fascinating world of Plastic Surgery.

Responsibilities:

The Surgical Tech performs a variety of technical duties to assist in preparing and caring for patients both pre- and post-operative, including:

  • Under the supervision of the operating surgeon, assists in skin closure, subcutaneous closure, facia closure, incising tissue, and performs hemostatic techniques.
  • Assembles supplies and equipment needed for surgical procedures.
  • Prepares sterile instrument table.
  • Prepares patient skin for surgery in accordance with standards.
  • Maintains aseptic techniques and actively monitors situations which could lead to breaches in aseptic technique.
  • Positions patient according to type of surgery.
  • Works in office clinic as needed; includes office procedures, Botox, fillers, and laser setup.
  • Coordinate instruments and implants between office and OR according to the schedule.
  • Assists the surgical team in surgical procedures which may include passing instruments, sponges, and suture work.
  • Maintains work area.
  • Gathers equipment for cleaning and sterilization.
  • Assists in the monitoring of the patient through the procedure.
  • Provides age and culturally appropriate care.

Qualifications:

  • Required:
    1. Education: high school diploma or equivalent
    2. Licensure: valid Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) license
    3. 3-5+ years of experience working in an Operating Room
    4. In-depth knowledge of health and safety guidelines and procedures (sanitation, decontamination etc.)
    5. A team player with excellent communication and interpersonal skills
    6. Responsible and compassionate
    7. Outstanding organizational and multi-tasking skills
    8. Patient with excellent problem-solving skills
  • Preferred:
    1. Plastic or Cosmetic Surgery experience
