Job Title: Project Engineer - Water and Wastewater Treatment Plant Construction

State Utility Contractors, a leading environmental service facilities builder in the Carolinas, is seeking a skilled and experienced Project Engineer to join our Treatment Plant Division at our corporate office in Monroe. Perfect Candidate:

Education: Graduated with a 4-year university degree in Engineering Technology or Construction Management. This person should have worked an internship with a contractor for at least two summers during their university level education.

Experience: Worked with a utility contractor for at least 3-5 years. This work could include onsite field experience, or office experience. Must have handled submittal reviews, along with processing them through a software-based management system. Has good technical writing skills. Very detail oriented.

Responsibilities:

  • Performing detailed reviews of reinforcing steel drawings
  • Review concrete mix designs
  • Analyze process equipment submittals vs. project specifications and can see installation problems prior to releasing fabrication and shipment. Must be able to coordinate with the PM and take directions from the PM.
  • Review of architectural package submittals
  • Review of electrical package submittals
  • Review of HVAC package submittals
  • Review Asphalt Paving + Curb amp; Gutter + Concrete Pavement package submittals
  • Must be able to determine what routing and layout for DI pipe systems will best work for field installations, then requisition up this material, prepare detailed pipe laying / installation drawings, prepare submittals and submit for review to the engineer or record. (Flanged + Buried + MJ + RJ systems)
  • Review process chemical feed system submittals
  • Requisition and order chemical feed piping packages (Sch 80 PVC, CPVC, and HDPE systems)
  • Review Instrumentation system package submittals
  • Knowledge of schedule software
  • Understand what critical path represents
  • Must be able to work under pressure and perform on a very professional level
