Job description

Mechanical Engineer


**THIS IS AN ON-SITE POSITION** MINIMUM OF 10 YEARS OF PROFESSIONAL DESIGN EXPERIENCE REQUIRED (not including school projects or internships)


Responsibilities:

  • Translate the functional, aesthetics and commercial product design requirements into technical concepts and solutions using QFD principles.
  • Develop project plans in accordance with Product Roadmaps.
  • Lead the product design and process continuous improvement efforts.
  • Report status of active projects.
  • Organize and assign work within the project teams.
  • Develop, update, and maintain DFMEA’s and contribute to the development of PFMEA’s and the process control plans.
  • Formulate and document product specifications.
  • Design and develop product component parts, product sub-assemblies and product complete assemblies according to requirements and standards.
  • Safeguard product performance, reliability, and functionality.
  • Administer and carry out test programs with lab technicians and team engineers.
  • Develop test methods and procedures that are not covered by recognized agency requirements.
  • Analyze and interpret test data. Write corresponding test report.
  • Interact with CAD programs to create product concepts.
  • Oversee pilot, prototype and first production builds of developed systems.
  • Interfaces with outside vendors for component selection, manufacturing, and assembly.
  • Read and interpret technical documentation, schematics, and computer-generated reports.
  • Collaborate with Engineering, Quality and Operations teams to resolve system malfunctions, provide technical support and establish controls.
  • Research and analyze design proposals, specifications, manuals, and other data to evaluate the feasibility, cost, and maintenance requirements of designs or applications.
  • Perform other duties as required.


Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering or equivalent experience.


Qualifications:

  • Should have a minimum of 10 years professional design experience (not including school projects or internships).
  • Prior product commercialization experience from concept to launch.
  • Knowledge of Phases-Gates best practices and processes.
  • Demonstrated ability to use structured problem-solving methods and techniques.
  • Good working knowledge of manufacturing processes, materials, and quality control protocols.
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills.
  • Experience with 3D modeling software.
  • Experience with Solidworks Premium software 2021 or later.
  • Experience with Solidworks PDM.
  • Experience with SharePoint.
  • Experience with NetSuite.
  • Prefer knowledge of x-ray producing devices, radiation shielded enclosure, x-ray imaging devices, radiation detectors and science of materials.

We are a global enterprise and our equipment resides in major pharmaceutical labs, healthcare institutions and renowned universities around the world. We are based in Buford, Georgia, USA where our highly qualified and dedicated staff continues to develop our technology, design and produce our equipment.
