POSITION AVAILABLE:   Payroll/Accounting Intern
POSITION LOCATION: Southwest West Central Service Cooperative (SWWC) with placement in the Marshall, MN office location.
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES: The Payroll/Accounting Intern will work with software specific to public school accounting while learning applicable state and governmental regulations. Interns will assist with various projects in both payroll and accounting, including, but not limited to, timecard entry, generating reports, entering receipts, entering vouchers for payment, bank reconciliation, and conducting software testing. Additional duties and/or projects may be assigned.
The Regional Management Information Center oversees the software that public schools utilize for processing payroll, recording benefits, managing accounts payable and fund accounting requirements specific to Minnesota Schools. In addition to software maintenance, we provide direct support in payroll processing and school business manager services.
QUALIFICATIONS: Candidates must be current college students pursuing an associate's or bachelor's degree; concentration in Finance or Accounting preferred. Strong analytical skills, the ability to quickly learn various computer programs, and effective written and verbal communication skills are essential. Interns must be able to manage confidential information with discretion both during and after the internship. A valid driver's license is also required.
SALARY: This temporary internship position pays $18.00 per hour. The internship is expected to run for 12 - 14 weeks, with flexible daytime hours totaling approximately 10 - 15 hours per week. The anticipated start date is September 1, 2026. We are also open to extending the duration or adjusting the weekly hours if required by the college for academic credit.
