Overview
The Design Engineer works under the direction of a Project Manager and is responsible for day-to-day project work producing technical deliverables for traffic and transportation engineering projects.
Responsibilities
  • Establish and monitor adherence to project schedule and budget.
  • Provide all necessary coordination and follow-up on the work to ensure quality standards are met, efficiency levels are maintained and client satisfaction, respect and confidence are assured.
  • Assist in the development of traffic control device design plans, including traffic signal, signing, pavement marking, lighting and ITS plans.
  • Create clear, concise technical reports and high quality drawings, primarily using AutoCAD.
  • Perform field duties outside of the office in support of projects, including traffic data collection and field verifications of existing and proposed traffic control device installations.
  • Meet with clients, prepare and deliver presentations, as required.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering. Emphasis in Traffic Engineering, Planning, and Highway Design courses are a plus.
  • 0-4 years of experience in traffic/transportation engineering. Any internship experience is applicable.
  • Engineer-In-Training (EIT) preferred.
  • Relevant internship experience preferred.
  • Technical knowledge in traffic engineering with proven experience in preparing technical reports, designs, specifications, and computations.
  • Traffic Signal design and timing experience.
  • Working knowledge of relevant software packages including, Synchro, HCS, Microstation, Corsim, VISSIM is a plus.
  • Familiar with AutoCAD.
  • Independent and critical thinking abilities.
  • Proficiency in the use of Microsoft Software including Word, Excel, Outlook and Project
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Self-starter who can work independently and with team members.

The salary range for this position is $75k - $80k.
