Job description

Position Overview

Our client is seeking a Data Center, Cloud & Infrastructure Rationalization Architect to support a large-scale data center footprint rationalization initiative. This resource will work under customer direction to assess current-state infrastructure, hosting environments, disaster recovery capabilities, and cloud readiness while helping define future-state architecture strategies that support consolidation, modernization, and migration objectives.

The Architect will collaborate with Enterprise Architecture, Network Engineering, Data Center Engineering, Cloud Engineering, Cybersecurity, Application Owners, and Disaster Recovery teams to evaluate technical dependencies, workload placement options, infrastructure utilization, and migration sequencing.

Responsibilities
  • Support inventory and assessment of data centers, colocation environments, disaster recovery sites, and cloud-hosted workloads.
  • Document infrastructure assets across compute, storage, networking, virtualization, and cloud platforms.
  • Assess facility utilization, rack consumption, infrastructure capacity, power, cooling, and technical dependencies.
  • Map business applications to supporting infrastructure and identify critical technical interdependencies.
  • Analyze workload disposition and identify cloud migration candidates.
  • Conduct cloud readiness assessments and identify migration constraints, risks, and opportunities.
  • Evaluate future-state hosting strategies including on-premises, colocation, Microsoft Azure, hybrid cloud, and SaaS alternatives.
  • Support data center consolidation planning, migration wave development, implementation sequencing, and dependency mapping.
  • Assess current disaster recovery architectures and evaluate modernization opportunities including cloud-based DR, warm site, active/passive, and active/active models.
  • Develop technical findings, recommendations, and architecture documentation supporting data center consolidation, DR modernization, and colocation exit initiatives.
  • Partner with cross-functional technical teams to support future-state architecture planning and risk mitigation.
  • Produce clear technical documentation, assessments, presentations, and executive-ready recommendations.

Required Qualifications:
  • 8+ years of experience in enterprise infrastructure, data center architecture, cloud platforms, or infrastructure modernization initiatives.
  • Strong knowledge of enterprise servers, storage platforms, networking, virtualization technologies, and hybrid cloud environments.
  • Experience supporting data center consolidation, data center migrations, facility exit planning, or colocation transformation programs.
  • Experience performing infrastructure assessments, capacity analysis, and dependency mapping.
  • Knowledge of application-to-infrastructure mapping and workload disposition analysis.
  • Experience evaluating cloud migration strategies and cloud readiness for enterprise workloads.
  • Understanding of disaster recovery, business continuity, resiliency planning, and RTO/RPO methodologies.
  • Strong analytical, documentation, stakeholder management, and communication skills.
  • Ability to work effectively across architecture, engineering, operations, and application teams. Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with Microsoft Azure infrastructure and migration planning.
  • Experience working within hybrid cloud operating models.
  • Familiarity with infrastructure discovery and dependency mapping tools.
  • Experience supporting enterprise transformation, modernization, or rationalization programs.
  • Industry certifications in cloud, infrastructure, architecture, or related disciplines.
