Job description

The Office of Media and Marketing serves as Indiana University Kokomo's central communications and creative services team, supporting enrollment, advancement, academic affairs, student life, and university leadership through strategic storytelling, photography, videography, design, web, and digital communications.
Job Summary
Indiana University Kokomo seeks a creative and dependable part-time photographer to provide photographic coverage of campus events, academic programs, student life, and university initiatives throughout the year.
Department Specific Responsibilities
  • Produces high-quality photography for use across digital and print communications, including the university website, social media, publications, advertising, and news media.
  • Pays an important role in documenting the life of the university and producing compelling visual content that supports recruitment, brand awareness, alumni engagement, and institutional storytelling as a member of the Media and Marketing Team.
  • Photographs university events, ceremonies, and campus activities.
  • Captures candid student life, classroom, laboratory, and campus experience photography.
  • Produces environmental portraits of students, faculty, staff, alumni, and community partners.
  • Photographs campus visits, admissions events, donor activities, and community engagement programs.
  • Provides faculty and staff headshot photography.
  • Creates seasonal campus imagery and maintain a diverse library of recruitment photography.
  • Assists with athletic and spirit photography as assigned.
  • Selects, edits, and color-corrects images using Adobe Lightroom and Photoshop.
  • Uploads, captions, keywords, and organizes photography within the department's digital asset management system.
  • Maintains consistent file naming and archiving practices.
  • Delivers edited photography within established turnaround times.
  • Works closely with Media and Marketing staff to support strategic communications initiatives.
  • Coordinates photography assignments with project managers and campus partners.
  • Assists in planning photography needs for major university events and campaigns.
  • Represents Indiana University Kokomo professionally while interacting with students, faculty, staff, alumni, donors, and community members.

Qualifications
EDUCATION
Required
  • High school diploma or equivalent (such as HSED or GED)
Preferred
  • Bachelor's degree in photography, visual communications, journalism, marketing, or a related field
WORK EXPERIENCE
Required
  • 1 year of photography experience in journalism, marketing, communications, higher education, events, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience
LICENSES AND CERTIFICATES

  • Possesses a valid driver's license with the ability to be insured by Indiana University Upon Date of Hire
SKILLS

Working Conditions / Demands
This position requires regular movement throughout campus and occasional travel to off-campus university events. This positions requires the a bility to move and transport photography equipment. Ability to stand, sometimes for long periods of time, and the ability to move around an event location to capture images.
Evening and weekend work is required during commencement, Welcome Week, Homecoming, admissions events, alumni activities, and other university programs.
This position requires the ability to work a schedule driven by the university event calendar, including occasional evenings and weekends.
