Boston Vision has 7 offices and 24 doctors, currently employing 2 retina specialists.
Job DescriptionBoston Vision is seeking the addition of a retina specialist (medical or surgical) due to expansion, succession planning as well as a current physician decreasing his time. The practice has 7 offices around Boston and we would be seeking help primarily in the northern offices. The practice has an established administrative and technician team, already working with retina specialists regularly. This role also offers flexibility to do comprehensive work.
Essential Functions:Diagnosing, treating and developing care plans for patients for any medical retinal issues.
Working in the clinical area with ophthalmic technicians, patient services representative and other doctors (ophthalmologists, optometrists and specialized MDs), The Retina Specialist is expected to orchestrate their care team to deliver high quality care to patients, which includes but is not limited to;
The medical treatment of retinal and vitreoretinal disease is required. Treatments include manifestations of local, systemic and genetic diseases as they affect the retina and vitreous.
Diagnosis involves the use and interpretation of ultrasound, fluorescein angiography and electrophysiology.
Treatment and care plans include additional appointments, prescription of medications and informing patients of care options and surgical procedures.

ERGAdministrative Retina DutiesA pre-existing team works remotely to do all PAs and insurance work for retina injections
Assist lead retina technician, remote team and billing in processing of necessary paperwork for retina meds
Minimum RequirementsMust hold a Medical Doctorate Degree (MD) in Ophthalmology
Completion of 1 Year Internship and 3 year Ophthalmology Residency
Completion of 1-2 year Retina Fellowship Program
Call DutiesPrimary call at Boston Vision (3-4 weeks) is split among MDs with 50% of the call taken by the Cornea Fellow. Practice call does not cover a hospital or ER. Amount will fluctuate based on number of MDs in the pool but typically is 3-4 weeks/year. In addition, doctors are credentialed through BIDCO and retina doctors are required to participate in the BID Retina call rotation, backing up a retina fellow.
Position Type and Expected Hours of Work
Flexible time requirements but minimum 3 days per week. Hours of clinical operations are Monday-Friday, 8:00am-5:00pm
TravelBoston Vision is primarily looking for retina coverage in Medford, Andover, Lawrence offices.
