Job description

Overview

Talley Eye Institute is a busy, physician-owned practice seeking a surgical retina specialist to start in summer 2028 or sooner. Our group includes 3 retina surgeons, 1 cornea specialist, 1 uveitis specialist, 2 general ophthalmologists, and 2 residency-trained optometrists. Current retina specialists see 60-90 patients per day and perform 5-10 vitrectomies per week. The new retina specialist can expect rapid patient volume ramp-up and a very busy clinic and OR schedule within 2 years. Our 22,000 square foot clinic provides efficient EHR with Retina OS drug inventory management, Optos FA camera, PASCAL laser, cryopexy unit, PDT laser, and multiple Zeiss Cirrus OCTs.

Vitreoretinal surgery and facility

Vitreoretinal surgery will be performed in our ASC adjacent to the clinic, using a Constellation and Zeiss Resight. We anticipate expanding our retina clinical trials department with another retina surgeon. There is potential for practice growth in the first years. The combination of growth and low overhead could lead to a very large income within a few years of starting.

Compensation and track

This is a partnership track position with a reasonable buy-in offered after 18 months of employment to both the practice and the ASC. Employment includes a generous base salary, a signing bonus and/or stipend, and a production bonus with anticipated net income over $500,000 in the first year.

Benefits

Standard benefits include health and dental insurance, 401k participation, 4 weeks of vacation, and an additional 1 week off with a CME stipend.

About the practice and community

We are a busy referral-based practice that emphasizes quality, ethical care, and personable service with our referral network and medical staff. Physicians are relatively young and have no interest in selling to private equity.

About Evansville

Evansville is a vibrant, family-friendly community with a metropolitan population over 360,000 and a regional referral base approaching one million. It offers a high quality of life, low cost of living, good schools, safe neighborhoods, parks, trails, and outdoor recreation along the Ohio River. The city features a growing downtown with dining, breweries, arts, and year-round events. Evansville is within driving distance of Louisville, Nashville, St. Louis, and Indianapolis, with easy air connections via Evansville Regional Airport. The area has a strong medical community and a favorable malpractice climate with Indiana Tort reform.
