What You'll Get to Do
As a vital member of the OBE Estimating Department, you will provide detailed, timely estimates for architectural aluminum systems. This role involves independent analysis of architectural plans to provide building envelope solutions, including curtainwalls, storefronts, and skylights that are favorable to OBE product lines while meeting rigorous industry standard.
Job responsibilities include:
  • Detailed Take-offs: Perform quantity take-offs for aluminum, and related hardware using digital tools like Bluebeam, Revu, or the like.
  • Bill of Materials (BOM): Develop comprehensive bills of materials for complex projects, including curtainwalls, storefronts, and specialty entrance systems.
  • Specification Alignment: Review architectural specifications (Division 08) to ensure the selected product systems meet or exceed thermal, structural, and aesthetic requirements.
  • Cost Analysis: Calculate total project costs, including raw materials, manufacturing labor, and necessary components. (Internal Data Base learnings)
  • Bid Preparation: Compile and submit professional bid packages and formal quotations to glazing contractors and general contractors.
  • Technical Consultation: Collaborate with internal engineering and sales teams to provide value engineering (VE) options and alternate solutions to secure project wins

What We Are Looking For
  • Minimum 3 years of estimating experience specifically within the commercial glazing or architectural metal industry.
  • Advanced proficiency in reading and interpreting architectural blueprints and technical shop drawings.
  • Knowledge of Bluebeam Revu for digital take-offs and strong in Microsoft Excel for cost analysis.
  • In-depth understanding of glazing systems, including curtainwall pressure plate systems, thermally broken storefronts, and glass performance data.
  • Strong ability to communicate technical details clearly to customers and internal production teams.

Position Pay Range
$65,000-$95,000 USD
