Job Description
Are you passionate about networking, telecommunications, and solving complex technical challenges?
NineStar Connect is looking for a Field Engineer to help build, maintain, and support the critical communications infrastructure that keeps our members connected. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys working with advanced telecommunications equipment, troubleshooting network issues in the field, and collaborating with engineers, technicians, vendors, and customers to deliver reliable service.
As a Field Engineer, you'll configure, install, maintain, and troubleshoot broadband and voice network equipment while providing advanced technical support for our communications systems. You'll also play an important role in maintaining our Central Office facilities and supporting network operations through documentation, testing, and on-call response.
What You'll Do
  • Install, configure, maintain, and troubleshoot DSLAM, GPON, MetaSwitch, and other telecommunications equipment.
  • Support broadband, voice, and hosted PBX services through installation, diagnostics, and repair.
  • Assist Network Engineers with equipment deployment, testing, and troubleshooting.
  • Provide Tier II network support and Tier III voice and internet technical support.
  • Work with vendors and telecommunications carriers to resolve network issues.
  • Maintain Central Office equipment and assist with facility upgrades.
  • Perform network audits and maintain accurate technical documentation.
  • Support Outside Plant Technicians with escalated troubleshooting.
  • Participate in an on-call rotation to support voice and data network operations after hours.
  • Promote a safe, collaborative work environment while delivering exceptional service to our members.

Qualifications
  • Associate degree in Information Technology, Telecommunications, Electronics, or a related field, or equivalent technical certifications.
  • 3-5 years of experience in telecommunications, networking, electronic maintenance, or a related technical field.
  • Experience with TCP/IP networking, VoIP technologies, GPON, DSLAM, Cisco networking, or Central Office equipment.
  • Working knowledge of Linux operating systems and Microsoft client operating systems.
  • Strong troubleshooting and diagnostic skills.
  • Excellent communication and documentation skills.
  • Ability to read technical documentation, schematics, and circuit diagrams.
  • Ability to prioritize multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail.
