Responsibilities

The School of Nursing and Health Sciences (SNHS) at North Park University seeks applications for a full-time exercise science (EXS) faculty member to begin Fall 2026. The candidate will teach biomechanics, exercise physiology and health appraisal & fitness testing as well as other courses in exercise science or related fields, based on their qualifications, and needs of the school.

  • Instruct 24 credits per academic year (12 per semester)
  • Hold office hours and appropriately engage with students outside the classroom
  • Advise and mentor students
  • Implement a scholarly agenda
  • Collaborate effectively with other faculty and staff
  • Contribute to overall administration of EXS program including student recruitment, retention initiatives, programmatic assessment, curricular revision, course development, and internship supervision
  • Participate in service to the SNHS and wider institution
  • Demonstrate involvement in professional organizations and activities

Salary range for this position is $65,000 -$75,000

Requirements

  • Doctoral degree in exercise science, health science, exercise physiology, biomechanics or closely related field preferred. M.S, in exercise science, health science, or related field will be considered (candidates with master’s degree only considered for non-tenure track faculty positions).
  • Possess a clear understanding and personal commitment to North Park University’s mission of Christian higher education.
  • Ability to incorporate the University’s Christian, city-centered, and intercultural core values into teaching and service
  • Ability to teach exercise physiology, biomechanics, and health appraisal & fitness testing
  • Evidence of research/scholarship • Ability or willingness to learn to use instructional technology effectively
  • Health or fitness-related certification.

Preferred

  • Demonstration of successful teaching at the university level.
  • Professional experience in an exercise science-related field
  • Previous experience with academic advising
  • Experience with student recruitment and/or retention efforts
  • Demonstration of collaborative and/or team-based projects
