Job description

Job Summary

This role works as a key member of the Plant Quality and Process Engineering Team applying engineering techniques, data analysis and troubleshooting while assisting in the improvement of manufacturing processes and products.

Job Duties

  • Work closely with cross-functional teams, including product design, product management and production, to identify and mitigate process, quality and safety risks
  • Support manufacturing processes, preferably in an area of expertise in mixing, rubber extrusion, injection molding and assembly processes.
  • Recommend manufacturing equipment and processes designed to be efficient, cost-effective and to promote quality and reliability
  • Assess current equipment and processes and make recommendations for changes
  • Assist in the development of plant based PFMEAs and Control Plans and auditing process, with focus in areas of expertise
  • Audit production processes, raw materials or suppliers/vendors to ensure that established quality standards are met
  • Conduct root cause analysis for defects, non-conformities or other quality failures. Ensures corrective and preventive actions are adequate and effective.
  • May train personnel in equipment usage and processes
  • Complete all necessary documents fully and accurately including but not limited to Process Maps, FMEAs, Control Plans, Standard Operating Procedures, Work Instructions, Management of Change, etc.
  • Adhere to 5S standards (e.g., maintain cleanliness of work area, etc.)
  • Follow all Safety, Environmental and Quality policies and procedures
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Experience and Education

  • Perform work under minimal supervision
  • Bachelor's degree and/or Master’s Degree and > 5 years of experience (10+ years of experience without degree will be considered).  Chemical or Mechanical or similar degrees preferred.
  • Experience with rubber chemistry, rubber extrusion, or rubber molding preferred.
  • Experience with AIAG core tools such as PFMEAs, Control Plans, SPC and MSA.
  • Experience as a Certified Internal auditor in ISO or IATF management systems.
  • Software skills:  MS Office, Minitab or equivalent statistical analysis software, Document/QMS Control systems, LIM systems, SPC Systems
