Job Description

As an Assistant Engineer on the Rail Structures team at Olsson, you will support a variety of routine engineering tasks that enhance your technical knowledge and familiarity with industry practices, tools, and team collaboration. This entry-level role contributes to the development of purposeful, high-quality design solutions that address real-world engineering challenges, particularly in the railroad sector.

Primary duties and responsibilities:

  • Assist with project design elements using standard techniques and established methods.
  • Perform entry-level plan production with clearly defined instructions.
  • Gain experience working within design and modeling software.
  • Support senior staff with project schedules and technical engineering calculations.
  • Contribute to limited portions of broader projects under direct supervision.
  • Gather and prepare research for technical reports.
  • Provide mentoring to student interns by answering questions and guiding routine assignments.
  • Travel and work in various terrain and weather conditions at project sites in different construction stages.
Qualifications
