As an Information Security Engineer II, you will support Cisco's data security posture by assisting with Data Loss Prevention (DLP) efforts focused on protecting data in motion using Microsoft's Purview and Defender security suite. You will ensure data security playbooks are accurate and effective. This role emphasizes policy development, operational support and automation with guidance from experienced information security leaders.
Your Responsibilities
- Support Data Security Posture Management (DSPM), Cloud Security, and Endpoint System Data Protection initiatives.
- Assist in developing and tuning DLP policies using Microsoft Purview and Defender tools.
- Collaborate with security operations to transition data discovery and Data Security Posture Management (DSPM) capabilities into operational workflows.
- Help maintain and tune DSPM tools to identify and mitigate data risks.
- Participate in policy development aligned with NIST-CSF and CIS hardening baselines.
- Support automation and AI/ML initiatives conceptually and assist in operational tuning.
- Collaborate with IT, Risk and Compliance, Privacy, and business units to embed security into system designs and workflows.
Minimum Qualifications
- Completion within the past 3 years, or current enrollment with expected completion within 12 months, of a certification or degree program (e.g., Associates, Apprenticeship, Boot Camp, or Certification in a specialized program + 3 years of relevant experience, High School Diploma + 4 years of relevant experience, Bachelors + 2 years of relevant experience) or Masters + 0 years of relevant experience. Relevant fields include Computer Science, Information Security, or related field (or equivalent project experience).
- Familiarity with Microsoft Purview, Defender, and related security tools is acceptable; direct hands-on experience is a plus but not required. Mentorship will be provided.
- Basic programming or scripting skills (e.g., Python, JavaScript, or TypeScript).
- Experience with cloud environments such as AWS, GCP, or Azure, from academic projects or internships.
- Understanding of compliance frameworks such as NIST-CSF, CIS baselines, and GDPR.
Preferred Qualifications
